HAPPY WEDNESDAY
I had a good night last night, no more dreadful nightmares no more thoughts about growing up. Woke up feeling a little better.
Its that dreaded fireworks night, hate it when the fireworks are going off, both my pups don't like them. This year I started giving them a calming tablet twice a day, this has certainly stopped the anxiety over them. We have had fireworks going off for a few days now, usualy both pups are barking and running around not being able to settle but at the moment I have Luna tucked in my side snoring and Mika is flat out on the sofa and fireworks are going off. I'm going to keep them on the tablets until after New Year as we will get fireworks going off most nights.
Every year there is an uproar about the noisy fireworks but nothing ever gets done about it. There are silent fireworks that would please everyone as a lot of children don't like that loud bang either. I've never been a fan and both my girls growing up didn't want to go see them, we stayed in the house with TV turned up loud to camouflage the sound.
This year has got to be the worst we have had for a long time, We have a field opposite us that usually a bonfire plus a small amount of fireworks this year the fireworks are twice as loud and going off right above our house, the pills we have been given them aren't weirdly anymore, Mika is barking thankfully she isn't panicking to much but Luna is an awful state, she's shaking, panting and very stressed, its not nice to watch, I'm trying to hug her and calm her down but its impossible. I got really scared at one point as she looked as if she didn't know where she was, I've had to hold her close and whisper things to get to help her calm down, its took a good 3 hours, now the fireworks seem to have stopped, took her a while to settle down now she's sort of sleeping with the odd jump and twitch.
So much for those tablets I've been given her, they did help when the fireworks were in the distance but nothing helped when they were blowing up above my house, what stupid person has a Fireworks display in the middle of a housing estate. Its not just dogs that suffer, its children, veterans, horses etc human beings are the worst kind of monsters on this planet. All we need now is the silly people letting off fireworks at midnight, we seem to have a few of them living around here.
Luna is now tucked up under the quilt resting on my leg, she ate a little of her supper but not as much as usual, think all the stress has worn her out. We will still have fireworks going off each night now until after New Year, don't think she can go through another night like tonight. I will have to phone the Vets and see if we can get something for to let her sleep through it.
I'm going to try and sleep myself and hope Luna does with me, if she feels me relaxed it may help.
