YAY THE WEEKEND HAS STARTED
We have had another bad night with our old lady Mika, she has been up and down all night and panting. I've had to put the fan on for her again as its so warm here, for being November that is unusual. She pants so loud that I can't sleep, hubby can sleep through a tornado, I haven't a clue how he does it. I'm constantly aware of what the dogs are doing and the noises they make, with Mika panting and Luna tooting the bedroom is so noisy OH and hubby snoring so loud its a wonder the neighbours can sleep. When she wakes up she will slowly walk along the bottom of the bed and sit where my feet are, just above the steps we have for her to make it easy for her to get up and down. She will sit there and pant until I turn my light on then she jumps down for a drink then I have to wake hubby up so he can take her out, I would do it but can't keep going up and down the stairs.
I love her so much,I hate what's coming soon, dreading having to make that decision but for the time being she's still eating and enjoying her treats, she's still happy enough especially when dads having a bacon sandwich, she does seem to be doing less and not standing for very long. We are having to pick her up a lot more plus noticed she can't do her little walks around the block anymore, so now its up the side lane along the grass then home. We are having to cover our floors in puppy pads plus keeping the carpet cleaners ready. I'm concerned about hubby as he has always had a soft spot for Mika, he has loved all his pups but Mika and him have a lovely bond, he's the only one she doesn't grumble at when he picks her up.
We have always said we will only have that horrible conversion if she's in pain and suffering, l for now she's happy enough just need alot of help.
A Patterdaleis 12 - 15 years, she is 15. She has had a good life, she's been loved and looked after. We got her when she was 3 from a friend of a friend, they didn't want to give her away but with them working she was spending most of her days in a cage. We were only to pleased to have her and she got along with my little man Geordie really well. Sadly he has gone.
I have had so many dogs through my 61 years, growing up we always had dogs. I still remember all the dogs names I grew up with, Toby, Micky, Vicky, Petra, Vicky and Goldie, Petra was the mother to Vicky and the grandmother to Goldie. Then moving home to live here we had Sam, Jazz, Sheara, Geordie, Mika & Luna. I dread to think of the time I'm to old to look after a dog, I prefer dogs to most humans. I love a house filled with dogs, growing up I wanted to have a dog shelter where I could save them all. I would still love to do that but would have to win the lottery, can't see that happening but you never know, someone has to win it.
