HAPPY HUMP DAY FOR TOMORROW
We have had a massive disaster in my hubbys reef tank, everything was going great then him and my daughter went shopping for a few extra bits to finish the tank off. If they had continued shopping where they usually shopped this could have possibly been avoided as this man knew what hubby had bought previously. He has found a new place where they sell from there home. Whilst they were there they noticed he has star fish for sale, hubbys always wanted one plus my daughter helped push him to buy one but they weren't thinking straight as he didn't ask for any information about it. We have talked and talked about doing research before buying anything, seems that slipped there minds.
REEF TANK BEFORE STAR FISH
Hubby couldn't wait to get the Starfish settled but now wishes he hadn't bothered. The Starfish is a Predator, it comes out at night so we won't get to see it unless we go moving things which my hubby did to find it munching on one of the gorgeous shrimps. We are gutted, its cleared the tank of shrimps and the one and only little Crab, he's lost a fortune in fish. The tank doesn't look the same apart from the new colour on his light giving the tankk a more blue look. This is for night time before the track light gets turned off.
Since our loss hubby has spent a long time reading up on reef tanks and Predators, he has found information that says feed the Starfish meaty food such as a Prawn or Mussel this should stop them from killing other tank dwellers. Don't think he's going to risk anymore and will possibly take the Starfish back as its really a waste of time as we will never see it unless we stay up at night.
It really upset me as I loved watching the shrimp dance around the tank, thinking that greedy Starfish jumped them when they were probably sleeping is a nightmare, a horror story for fish. Patrick the Starfish is evil.
Think it's back to the drawing board for hubby, he is going to do more research on Predators and what doesn't go together. He wants Shrimp and Crabs but needs to avoid anything that hurts them plus not just them he needs to know what goes with Corals as we don't want to loose any of them. The little animals can look so cute when you see them buy once the light goes off and they are hungry they can wipe your tank out so quickly.
Hubby is going to give the tank a rest for a while as he wants to get a new light that lights up the whole tank plus new equipment to make his salt water, plus a little machine that sucks the water out when it's time for a cleaning stopping him from having to suck the water up the pipe, any little tool for an easy life. He needs all the new equipment. Think that man loves spending money.
