Ever since I had set foot on a sailboat it felt like there was a whole new level of the world unlocked. Yes I have always enjoyed beaches and shorelines a lot, but the whole world seeing it from another angle from the water in stead of towards the water is really something else.
There is so much to explore and the sense of freedom even when boating around in quite crowded Europe has been a totally new experience and it is surely one that I really like.
I always said in my younger years with a friend of mine 'when I win the lottery...I am buying the island of Maui' just for shits and giggles.
Would I be able to grow old on a sailing boat and travel the world? I have no idea honestly, but it never hurts to dream about it right? Or maybe even give it a try and see how it works out.
And if it doesn't work out? Well, that is a problem for later on then, making one decision doesn't mess up your whole life right?

For me the dream destination in the trip of a lifetime would 100% be to French Polynesia and specifically around the island of Moorea. Why? I don't know, but this looks like the place where the dinosaurs can step right out of the bushes and you have to catch you food by spear fishing and climb into a coconut tree to get some fresh coconut stuff for your food.

And there is the reality...
French polynesia is literally between everything in the Pacific ocean. 7 hours flight from Los Angeles and a 5.5 hour flight from Auckland New Zeeland which is like a 24 hour flight from the Netherlands here.
Same goes for boating towards there. This would takes weeks on sea and I am following this girl who sailed by herself towards there in 30 days of open seas. That ain't no joke and not for the faint hearted and talking about my sailing skills...Well I would say that they are about 1% of what is needed for a trip like this one.
But heck...what an adventure that would be right?

But then reality sets in and you realize that I don't have enough skills to sail like that, I don't have the funds to get a boat and maintain it (owning a boat is the biggest money drainer of your life they say and honestly...I totally believe them) and don't have the handyman skills to fix everything myself.
And uhhh...my altcoins are not really lifting off so that is also not the savior of saviors. How is that in your portfolio?
Better said....A girl can dream right?

But ...but.... raffling a boat?
And then I ran into this crazy raffle online from this Youtube couple who have fixed a monohull sailing boat into something really nice.
.....And they are raffling exactly that boat.....
Check out Spear It Animals for the details of the raffle. Sure there will be a crapload of people buying these tickets because their boat is actually super awesome., so the chance of actually winning it is close to zero. But then again..the chances of winning this are better than getting a ticket in the normal lottery.
For real...check out the inside of this boat. You can seriously live on that.

So yeah, I got me ticket because I love dreaming about these kinds of things. The reality of it is that this boat is in the island of Grenada and that is damn far away from here.
So either you need to keep that boat over there, or get it towards Europe in some kind of way..And my sailing game isn't up to that at all as yet. So I wouldn't even know how to get to the boat that you just had won.
I guess the chances of me winning that boat are still zero, but hey...A girl can dream right? The whole idea of exactly this boat and then heading out to French Polynesia to swim with the whales and surf around the big waves over there?
Wow that would be something. These dreams make you feel alive again!
