Boats in the night

I have always had this fascination about the combination of seas and mountains, or better said: water and mountains. For me this is the highest beauty of it all where the contrast doesn't get any bigger.

I want to add something to that statement in there. Maybe the ultimate combination is mountains, water and the lights of the nighttime in there.

And while sailing around, that is often the combination you can find the most. Fair enough, maybe here and there one of the elements is missing. But in general the evenings seem endless to me while camping out on the water!

Take this mooring spot here in Cannigione while being attached to a mooring ball. This means there is a floating line in the water which is attached to a concrete block on the bottom of the sea. You can toe you boat to this floating ball and that means you are secured for the night to have a sleeping spot which is not on land, while you don't have to stress about that your boat will drift off in the night.

But you still are floating on the water attached to your ball which means you can see all kinds of different views the whole time.

One of these views is towards the lights of the city which feel safely close, but ow so far away at the same time. With some mountains in the back and the total silence this feels like the perfect backdrop if you ask me.

The Disneylands of the sea

Also when you are around the docks and take some walks in the evenings, that is when you often also find the commercial cruising ships, but also the gigantic private yachts.

We always calls these things the Disneylands of the ocean. Just look at this stash of private yachts all next to each other. Multiple decks, all kinds of crew on it running around. Lights on the whole night because it has to look all fancy.

And guests and owners nowhere to be seen. Now correct me if I am wrong, but I always have the feeling that these super rich people who are travelled around in these floating building are not having any more fun on their fancy thing as that we are having on our little sailing boat while venturing around

Isn't the best part of life when you are making adventures? That when you are experimenting with something and it works out and you get to high five afterwards? Or when you were just a tiny bit scared of the whole situation but it all turned out well?

Isn't that what you remember? I am sure these superyacht guests are not having those kinds of experiences.

Same thing for this cruising sailboat that was anchored out for the coast of Corsica. This boat was called the 'Club Med 2' and this is actually a big sailing cruise ship.

People are transported from A to B without having any saying in what they want to do, returning to their same spot in the evenings when the boat sails off again.

Not my cup of tea, but honestly...This giant sailing boat does look fantastic, especially during the night!!

But the combo of it all

But I don't know. There is something that this combo can make me stare endless towards it. In this snap below this is the bay of Golfo di Aranci where I just sat on a bench for hours with a beer in my hand staring at the sun setting and the sky turning colour.

For me that is the ultimate freedom. Stare at the water and the mountains with soms lights in the background and decide for myself where I want to go next.

Happy weekend guys!
