Recently I was on the road with a buddy who has a super old doggo which hasn't been doing too well over the last couple of months. Every time I ask how their doggo is doing, it is always something like 'running on it's end' or 'a matter of time before we go and see the vet'.
But every time again when that day has passed and the trip to the vet tends to come closer, their doggo lives up and then in the morning he is sharp like a knife again and full of life and totally not ready for the 'one way ticket' to the vet at all.
These guys sound a bit like they are in their elderly home and are getting a next bowl of pudding in the next morning so the want to be sharp for that.
It is amazing how flexible these animals are. Now again, that was not about my own doggo, but about my buddies.
I have always been amazed what kind of bulldozer my doggo is. Lazy as hell though as that one is literally asleep for 16 hours per day at any random location he just drops down and takes a nap.
But whenever the doorbells rings or some people are visiting doggo is just full of life again and very often when I am walking him people ask me if he is still a puppy. Quite the contrast actually, as when I am at the vet like recently for his surgery on the paw they are always talking about a senior citizen. It is just a matter of interpretation.
Now the days are getting shorter here and the mornings and evenings are becoming more dark, I always realize how much I love to go for walks with him even though I never I feel like going when I think about it.
The amount of secret walking that you put in when having a doggo on the daily is really something else. Nope, I really don't like to head out to the gym, but the daily reality of getting the steps in just by walking might even be better.
In the mornings when the world is still asleep and my head is even more asleep that seems like the perfect wake up call. And after eating dinner in the evening in stead of becoming the instant couch potato, the little walk for digestion might even be the best thing to do.
I'm not sure if I wouldn't have a doggo if this would be such a regular activity on daily basis. And sure...it is not always the easiest, you always have to do something or arrange something when heading out to somewhere and get home after a specific amount of time.
But hey...isn't that also the perfect excuse to also leave again because after a certain amount of hours it is also enough? ;)
And also....after a certain amount of hours, maybe being reunited with my favorite furry buddy is also the one thing that always makes sense. Keep going strong doggo!! You ain't no senior citizen as yet!
