Last harvest of the year!

And as the winter coat all of a sudden was pulled out because the mornings were starting to get colder and colder, also the big clean up in the garden has started to get stuff winter ready.

I wasn't going towards the big chop sessions as I don't like it when everything is already loosing their greens already. Although on the other hand, climate wise this wouldn't wouldn't be a bad idea because then the stems have a chance to recover before it actually gets cold.

One of the things that has to be done is seeing what the last harvest of the veggie plants will be. And even though there wasn't a lot going on anymore, there were still some veggies to be harvested even though they were battling to the colder nights already.

Honestly....I was pleasantly surprised stuff was still turning harvestable!

The first cool thing is that I had my first ever cucumber harvest where I wasn't sure at all if this would be able to produce fruits as you could see in this post.

The plant was having great flowers and it looks like a fantastic enhancement in the garden. A lot of the veggie plants don't look so fly actually and that is is sometimes what annoying be a bit about growing stuff around the house, but the cucumber plant is really an eye catcher!

## The others

Also from all the tomato plants that I had (and those were a lot actually because I had them at all kinds of random places in the allotment, but also in singular pots) these had given harvest over the last couple of weeks and even months. I haven't bought a single tomato since June I guess and that is actually pretty cool.

The blackberry harvest of multiple kilos which I had frozen in is also coming to an end. So together with all of these things the garden harvest really prevented me a lot from buying stuff which is a huge win!

How people to this to survive an entire winter, that is a whole different ballgame though. You need a lot more space in the garden but also in the preservation game to make it through multiple months. I'm not there as yet at all!

Being honest about this single cucumber which is not gigantic that will also not make me survive winter, but this one also looks more that it wants to be pickled which I guess I will do. With a bit of vinegar, sugar, water and some mustard seeds this will be a cool experiment as well.

The brown chocolate bhud jolokia peppers are also perfect and this are damn hot! I used one of the small ones for a dish and that was perfect for a bigger dish as this stuff is fire!🔥

Looking back in retrospect to this season, I had too much different types of plants and I didn't have enough attention for all of them to completely thrive.

On the other hand.. why not try to have a lot and see what comes through? Growing doesn't always need attention so maybe some more happy little accidents will grow without that much attention.

The last thing that is still in the ground? Potatoes and the plants are still green and not ready to die down. So I will give those some time before I start digging and I am very curious to see what will come up.

Okay, so that will be the actual last harvest. Or at least...the last potential harvest ;)
