My platanen tree is shedding?

Ughhh, every time when something happens in the garden that is new to me, I always have the feeling that I am doing something wrong or messing it up, which might up in killing literally everything in the garden that is there.

First you see something is happening, ignore it for a bit. Then see it got worse over the week and then maybe get a deepsearch session on it. I always wonder in these kinds of moments how the other generation got all of this knowledge in working in the garden without having an endless searching machine which is always available to you got their stuff done.

Sure, we talk about what we do, but I don't talk about every little detail I see in the garden.

So here I started to notice that my platanen tree the barch was starting to fall of. Other years I also see some spots falling off, but this time it looked like literally everything was ready to come off of there.

And because it was so much, that got me a bit worried if the tree weas still in a good shape. After all...it was hot for a super long time, and looking back at it...I didn't give this tree a drop of any additional water.

Oopsie...

You can literally hear the pieces falling off

It looks kind of like a disaster right, admit it! And when it was a bit windy you could literally hear pieces or barch dropping down making it even looking and sounding worse.

But luckily there was the internet to the rescue in reassuring me that there was nothing wrong in this one.

So apparently the platanen tree (not to mistake with a plantain tree because that has fruit growing on there that looks like bananas) is a tree that grows quite fast.

Now that I am aware of that the branches are fast growers as I cut it back entirely at the end of the season and during the summer it makes new branches or more than 2-3 meters long in no time.

But the stem? I don't have the feeling that the stem is expanding in the broad way honestly, but on the other hand...That could be a decent explanation of why he is 'growing' out of his jacket.

The good ol internet also tells me that this can be a sign of some sort of infection that the tree wants to get rid off, but honestly.... In this case I think it has more to do with the lack of water in the ground and the endless heat passing by.

I really like the tree though! It gives awesome shade just to chill under and read a book or watch some music or prepare some seedlings for other parts or the garden. No need for artificial shade for that if you have a platanen which is getting a new coat this year ;)
