It felt like when I was biking into town the temperature got hotter nearly every kilometer I got closer. Something with the windy country side versus the concrete jungle when the heat can not escape the city and just keeps hanging there.
Honestly...I was doing absolutely fine on these temperatures having the never ending summer continuing its next leg throughout late August. I was enjoying the setting in the city and how it had come alive.
And also to see how stuff had changed in the city centre. As always there restaurants had again all changed owners and themes again. Admitting, every now and then when I end up in scrolling session I go to this page where you can see all hotels and restaurants that are on sale at the moment in the region. Not that I at all intend to own a restaurant, let me make that entirely clear. That seems like the most stressful places where you can spend your life at and I think the risk over having a heart attack or something stress related when working in that business is about as rocket high as it can get.
But it is nice to see what will change but also who is deciding to give up their hopes and dreams because it isn't working a anymore. (and that really sucks for those one, if it aint working and you have to sell it)
Regardless, it was cool to see that all of a sudden the central street of Eindhoven had changed into a full flown Japanese ramen place, Korean fried chicken place and a Vietnamese place. As if food heaven had entered the city and finally starting to participate in the game.
Amen to that on behalf of a self proclaimed foodie!!
I also saw these triangular buildings all of a sudden in the city in a place where I hadn't even realized that they were building something. Sure...something was demolished a while back so there must be built back because we have decided that this is one of the most expensive parts of the city.
But triangles? Really??
I am all for esthetics in that something cool must also rise for people to want to look at or at least that people remember the building.
But uhhhh, considering the shortage of housing here in the Netherlands..is this how we want to starting building up? Already 3 stories up the amount of living volume is cut in half?
I mean when a whole project is being thought out and the ground works have been done which is a lot of work and a costly process, is this really the way that we want to use the room above it? This doesn't really make sense to me in a time where people are screaming for housing.
Or...is this just me being practical and should the esthetics take over a bit more? Am I being to radical here?
