Today after our Sunday service, I decided to take a slow walk through Lafia Street, one of those lively areas where the air always smells of fresh fruit, roasted corn, and the chatter of cheerful traders. The service had been uplifting; the message reminded me of how important it is to stay grateful in every season, no matter how small the blessings may seem.

As I walked down the street, I noticed a familiar sight, piles of ripe mangoes, pawpaws, watermelon 🍉 and oranges neatly arranged on a wooden table under a zinc shade. The bright colors instantly drew my attention. I couldn’t resist stopping by to get some fruit for myself. The man behind the table smiled warmly and said, “You came at the right time; these mangoes are sweet!” I laughed and told her I could already tell just by looking at them.

Moments like these remind me how beautiful simple living can be. Sometimes, happiness isn’t about big celebrations or fancy places, it’s in the ordinary things we often overlook. The taste of fresh fruit on a sunny day, the friendly conversations with market sellers, and the peace that comes after worship are small but meaningful blessings.

While I waited for my change, I looked around and saw people busy with their daily activities, some negotiating prices, others laughing over shared jokes. It was a perfect reflection of everyday life in Lafia: vibrant, humble, and full of energy.

I carried my fruits and started heading home, thinking about how our lives are like these fruits, we grow best when we’re nurtured, pruned, and given the right environment. It also reminded me that growth doesn’t happen overnight. Just like the mango that takes time to ripen, every good thing in life comes through process and patience.

So, today’s walk was more than just a quick stop to buy fruits; it was a moment to reflect, refresh, and reconnect with the beauty of simplicity. I’m grateful for another Sunday, another sermon, and another peaceful day in the heart of Lafia. Thank y'all for coming to my blog
