How My Weekend Went...

This morning, being Saturday, I decided to start my day with sanitation in my room. Weekends often come with their own sense of renewal, and for me, today was not an exception. I woke up early, determined to put my space in order, because I strongly believe that the environment you live in reflects your state of mind. As I stretched and prayed quietly, I felt motivated to create a neat and refreshing atmosphere around me.

The first thing I tackled was arranging my books. Over the week, I had been reading, writing, and moving materials around, so they were scattered on my table and some even on the bed. I carefully gathered each book, dusted them off, and placed them in their rightful positions. Seeing them aligned neatly gave me a sense of calmness. Books, to me, are not just for knowledge but also companions in my academic and personal growth. As I arranged them, I remembered the long hours I had spent reading for my project, jotting down points, and sometimes underlining important passages. It was a reminder of the progress I have made and the effort that lies ahead.

Next, I turned to my frames. I have a few picture frames and motivational frames hanging and standing in my room. Some had been slightly tilted or dusty. I gently wiped them with a clean cloth, making sure they shined again. Frames hold memories, and as I adjusted them, I smiled at the moments they captured, friends, family, and important events in my journey. These frames serve as daily encouragement, reminding me of the people and experiences that continue to shape me.

My bed was the next area of focus. A bed is central in any room, and keeping it neat makes the whole environment welcoming. I removed the sheets, shook off any dust, and spread them back properly. I arranged the pillows neatly, ensuring the bed looked fresh and inviting. There is a special joy in lying down on a well-made bed after a long day, and preparing it that way each morning sets the tone for productivity.

Then came my clothes. During the week, I had worn different outfits for classes, fellowship activities, and personal outings, and some were not properly folded. I separated the ones that were clean from those that needed washing. The clean ones were folded and arranged in my wardrobe, while the ones for laundry were packed aside. Looking at my clothes in order gave me a sense of discipline and organization. It also reminded me of the importance of taking care of what I have, no matter how small.

After completing all these, I swept the room and ensured the floor was spotless. The whole environment suddenly felt lighter, more spacious, and refreshing. Sanitation is not just about cleaning dirt; it is also about resetting your environment and, in a way, resetting your mind. As I finished, I opened the windows to allow fresh air and sunlight to flow in. The room instantly looked brighter, and I felt fulfilled.

In conclusion, this morning’s sanitation taught me once again the value of orderliness and cleanliness. It may seem like a small task, but the peace and clarity that come from living in a neat environment cannot be underestimated. A clean space inspires a clean mind, and a clean mind brings forth productivity. Today, I started my Saturday on a good note, and I am grateful for the sense of calmness that followed.
