Today is a very special day for me, Hussaini Paul Kasimu, and for my twin brother, Hassan Peter Kasimu because it is our birthday.
It is not just a personal celebration, but also a testimony of God’s mercy and the unfailing love of Jesus Christ over our lives. To wake up and see another year is not something to take lightly, it is a gift from God, and I return all the glory to Him.
From the very beginning of our lives, Jesus has been our Keeper. Through the different stages of childhood, school, friendships, responsibilities, and even challenges, His hand has carried us. Many times, life could have turned another way, but His grace preserved us. Today, as I mark another year side by side with my twin brother, I cannot but bow my heart in thanksgiving to the One who is the Author of life.
Being a twin has always been a blessing. It feels like God wrote our lives in parallel, making sure we would never walk alone. My twin brother is not just my sibling; he is my friend, my partner in laughter, my reminder of shared memories, and at times, even my gentle challenger to be better. We may have our differences, but the bond remains stronger than words. To celebrate with him today is to celebrate God’s wisdom in creating us to share this life’s journey together.
Birthdays are more than candles and wishes. For me, they are reminders of purpose. Jesus has not kept us alive just to count years but to make each year count. My prayer today is that this new age will draw us closer to Him, to His will, and to His plans for our lives. Whatever we achieve, I want it to be anchored in Christ. The Bible says in John 15:5, “Without Me, you can do nothing.” That verse humbles me because it reminds me that every success, every step, every breath comes from Him alone.
I am grateful also for everyone God has placed in our lives, our parents, family, mentors, friends, classmates, and fellowship brethren. Each of them has contributed to our growth in one way or another. Their encouragement, correction, and prayers have been tools in the hand of Jesus to shape us. We do not take that love for granted.
Today, I celebrate not only our lives but also the faithfulness of Jesus. He has been our shield, our provider, our healer, and our guide. If not for Him, we would not be here. As Psalm 124:1 says, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side…” I look back and I know it has been the Lord all the way.
So, I say Happy Birthday to me, Hussaini Paul Kasimu, and Happy Birthday to my twin brother. May Jesus Christ continue to be the center of our lives, the source of our strength, and the joy of our days. With Him, the future is bright, and with Him, we step boldly into this new chapter.
