If you enjoy Italian temperamento, (better yet if you speak Italian), like football, and happen to have some free time to kill, then Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives might be a film worth considering.

A Fantasy Football League group loses a member. When soccer enthusiast Andrea joins, it disrupts their dynamic. They must search for Gianni, who vanished following his bachelor party.
This is an easy-to-watch movie, light, entertaining, with some moments of humor and mystery.
It is characterized as comedy, and even though I did not laugh throughout the movie, there are some interesting and funny moments.
While it has a few dull points that slow down the pace, it also manages to keep a sense of mystery running through the plot. The actors deliver solid performances, bringing life to the characters in a way that makes the film feel authentic and, at times, quite engaging.
The plot itself isn’t groundbreaking, however it has original points and has enough twists and little surprises to keep you curious about what comes next.
It’s the kind of movie you don’t need to overthink. Just sit back, relax, and let it unfold.
That said, the IMDb rating is at 4.9, not sure if it is a new movie (2025) and not sure if this will change much, but I do not see it go well above 5/10
Honestly, I wouldn’t rate it much higher myself, maybe a 5.5 out of 10. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s not a waste of time either.
My final words: I would recommend Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives if you:
-
Like Italian films and their unique storytelling style.
-
Enjoy football themes and banter.
-
Want something light to watch without big expectations.
It’s a simple watch, with some flaws but also with enough charm to make it enjoyable, if you’re in the right mood.
If you do find the time to watch it (I saw it on Netflix), let me know what you thought!
