Walking and tasting exotic fruit 🍉
I walked much more but did not have my mobile phone on me
It’s not practical to walk while holding my phone in my only operational hand
Anyways look at what I ate and tell me if you know how it tastes
It’s called “Dragon Fruit” and this is how it looks like
What does it look like?
I really can’t tell But it was easily pealed off without the use of a knife
Dragon fruit is also known as pitaya. It is a tropical fruit that comes from several cactus species native to Central America. Its striking appearance, with bright pink or yellow skin and white or red flesh dotted with tiny black seeds, earned it the name “dragon fruit,” as the scaly skin resembles the mythical creature’s scales.
The fruit has been cultivated for centuries in its native regions, and today it’s widely grown in Asia, particularly in Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, where it became highly popular through large-scale farming.
(Info by internet and Wikipedia)
This specific fruit was offered to us as a gift and is cultivated here in Crete. It was not so ripe but it was easily eaten
Can’t say that I loved it, it was white inside with black seeds and it kind of reminded me a less sour kiwi in it’s texture
Nutritionally, dragon fruit is considered a superfood thanks to its rich profile. It’s low in calories but high in fiber, antioxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, magnesium, and iron. The seeds contain healthy fatty acids, contributing to heart health. Its antioxidant properties support the immune system and help combat oxidative stress, while its fiber content aids digestion.
What about you? Have you tried it out? I don’t think that I would make it part of my daily diet, but who knows?
