As I recently mentioned, I was in Medellín for work, but I didn't miss the chance to explore and get to know the city. Because if life isn't about traveling and eating, then what's it for? ahahaha Well, here I'm sharing my experience of getting to know this little piece of Guatapé, a colorful town that's only a few hours away from Medellín.
Hey my Worldmappin people, today I'm bringing you this little piece of Medellín, Colombia, that left me speechless. I'll tell you that we went to this town on a Saturday. We woke up super early, then went to the meeting point with our friends. From there, we hopped on the bus heading to this adventure, where color, history, and even adventure were all there to be lived.
Our first stop was at the dam. We got on a boat there to see this man-made creation that left us completely amazed. As you sail, you can have a few cold ones and enjoy the scenery. The tranquility of the water and the surrounding vegetation are a real beauty.
After the boat ride, we got back on our bus to head to the main attraction: the majestic Piedra del Peñol. From what they explained to us there, this monolithic rock is 220 meters high, dominating the landscape and offering a breathtaking 360-degree view.
Climbing its 740 steps might sound challenging, but the effort was rewarded with a spectacular panorama of the Guatapé reservoir and its scattered islands. The view from the top shows a-l-l the beauty of the place, which looks like it was painted by hand—a perfect contrast with the blue sky.
And the trip couldn't end without visiting the town of Guatapé, which has something very unique: its streets are adorned with zócalos, colorful reliefs that decorate the facades of the houses and tell stories of the residents' lives, their traditions, and their culture. According to our guide, each zócalo is unique, turning a simple walk into an artistic treasure hunt.
For me, visiting Guatapé was more than a tourist experience because it meant being close to the people and their warmth, in addition to the richness of their colors and the beauty of their landscapes. If you're looking for a destination that combines adventure, art, and serenity, this Colombian town is waiting to show you why it's considered one of Antioquia's most precious gems.

Como les comenté reciente estuve en Medellín por temas de trabajo, pero no perdí oportunidad para pasear y conocer. ¿y si la vida no es viajar y comer, entonces para qué es? ahhjaja Bueno por aquí les dejo mi experiencia de conocer este pedacito de Guatapé, un pueblito lleno de color que está a solo unas horitas de Medellín.
Hola mi gente de Worldmappin hoy les traigo este pedacito de Medellín, Colombia que a mí me dejó con la boca abierta. Les cuento que fuimos a este pueblito un sábado, nos despertamos bien temprano y luego nos fuimos al punto de encuentro acordado con los amigos. De allí nos montamos en el autobus rumbo a esta aventura, donde el color, la historia y hasta la aventura estaban ahí para vivirlas.
Nuestra primera parada fue en La represa, allí nos montamos en un barco para conocer esta obra creada por el hombre, pero que nos dejó con la boca abierta. Mientras navegas puedes tomarte unas frías y disfrutar del paisaje. La tranquilidad del agua y la vegetación al alrededor son una belleza.
Después del barco volvimos a nuestro autobus, para movernos hasta la atracción principal La Majestuosa Piedra del Peñol, por lo que nos explicaron en el lugar, esta monolítica roca de 220 metros de altura domina el paisaje, ofreciendo una vista de 360 grados que quita el aliento.
Subir sus 740 escalones puede sonar desafiante, pero el esfuerzo lo recompensó un panorama espectacular de la represa de Guatapé y sus islas dispersas. La vista desde la cima muestra tooooda la belleza del lugar que parece haber sido pintado a mano, un contraste perfecto con el cielo azul.
Y el viaje no podía terminar sin visitar el pueblito de Guatapé que tiene algo bien particular, sus calles están adornadas con zócalos, coloridos relieves que decoran las fachadas de las casas y que cuentan historias de la vida de sus habitantes, sus tradiciones y su cultura. Cada zócalo es único, convirtiendo un simple paseo en una cacería de tesoros artísticos, según lo que nos dijo la guía.
Para mí visitar Guatapé fue una experiencia más que turística porque fue estar cerquita de la gente, de su calidez, además de la riqueza de sus colores y en la belleza de sus paisajes. Si buscas un destino que combine aventura, arte y serenidad, este pueblo colombiano te espera para mostrarte por qué es considerado una de las joyas más preciadas de Antioquia.
