Imposter Syndrome and Gratitude ๐Ÿ’–

Ah, the roller coaster of life.

When I'm up, my creativity is flowing like a river swollen in spring. When I'm down, I have to fight the urge to crawl in a cave and hide myself and my creations from the world.

But I'm a lioness and a dragon rider. I don't hide. Not for very long, anyway. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You don't have to be an artist or writer to get caught in the claws of self-doubt. Imposter syndrome catches many of us off guard from time to time (sometimes more often than not). It hits me hard when I least expect it, an uninvited guest I try to evict as soon as possible.

When the world shakes my foundations and it feels too scary or stressful to move forward, I take a moment in the here and now to settle into gratitude.

And when imposter syndrome strikes, two things help:

1) I revisit the reviews from people who have loved my books. 2) I think about so many amazing artists whose work has been torn apart by critics, and have persevered despite the haters.

Even imposter syndrome can't keep my creativity at bay, something I'm extremely grateful for. I mean, some authors suffer from writer's block. Not me. I have more ideas than I have time in the day. A blessing, to be sure.
