She is now 8 years old and still uses the blanket, placing it on her bed to cover the edge between the bed and the wall so that no insects can get in, or using it to play with her stuffed animals. A few days ago, she asked me to make her a cushion in the shape of My Melody, her favourite character.
It occurred to me to use one of her blankets, which had shrunk at the edges from being washed so many times, so I decided to make the cushion with that blanket. Without further ado, here is a step-by-step guide to how I made this beautiful cushion.
## ***STEP BY STEP:***
This is the blanket. If you look closely, you can see that the bias binding around the edge has shrunk and now looks all wrinkled.
Trim all the bias so that the fabric is nice and taut when cutting out the pieces.
These are the patterns I used, and here are the measurements for each one.
The head: 36 cm high by 30 cm wide.
The bow: 12 cm wide by 9.5 cm high.
The mouth: 3 cm wide and 1/2 cm thick.
The face: 22 cm wide by 13 cm high.
Eyes: 3 cm wide by 4 cm high.
Nose: 2 cm wide by 1.5 cm high.
Bow circle: 4.5 cm in diameter.
With the pink fabric, cut out what will be the head, place the fabric double and pin the pattern so that it does not roll, and cut out leaving a border of about 1 cm.
From the black fabric, cut out two pieces for the eyes and one for the mouth, leaving no edges. Cut out one piece from the white fabric for the face, also leaving no edges. From the blue fabric, cut out two pieces for the bow, leaving edges.
On the right side of the pink fabric, I position the face and pin it in place, then sew it with straight stitches around the entire edge, as shown in the image.

I follow the same procedure to sew on the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Then I sew around the entire edge of the face, leaving an opening at the bottom to insert the filling. And then I made some cuts around the edge so that when I turn it inside out, it will have a nice shape along the curves.
I stuff the cushion and then sew up the opening.
After cutting the bow, I sewed around the edge, leaving an opening where I inserted the filling and closed it. With the same thread, I passed it through the middle of the bow, tightening it to give it a tied shape. With the yellow fabric, I cut out a circle and sewed around the edge with a straight stitch, then filled it and closed it. Then I sewed it right in the centre of the bow.
Finally, I sewed the bow onto one of the ears and folded the other ear and sewed it to the face to hold it in place.
And this is how this beautiful cushion turned out.

Hola, mis queridos lectores. Espero que tengan o hayan tenido un excelente día. Quiero mostrarles como convertí una cobija, que tenía desde antes de que naciera mi hija. Actualmente, tiene 8 años y la cobija aún la usaba, la colocaba en la cama para cubrir la orilla de la cama con la pared, para que no se suban algún insecto o la usaba para jugar con sus peluches. Hace días me pidió que le hiciera un cojín con forma de My Melody, que es su personaje favorito.
Y se me ocurrió usar una de sus cobijas, que ya de tanto lavarla el sesgo de los lados se fue encogiendo, así que decidí hacer el cojín con esa cobija. Y sin más preámbulos, les muestro el paso a paso de como realice este hermoso cojín.
## ***PASO A PASO:***
Esta es la cobija, si se fijan bien, el sesgo que lleva por todo el borde, se ha encogido y pues ya se ve todo arrugado.
Recorte todo el sesgo para que la tela quede bien estirada a la hora de recortar las piezas.
Estos son los patrones que use y aquí les dejo las medidas de cada uno.
La cabeza: mide 36 cm de alto por 30 cm de ancho.
El lazo: 12 cm de ancho por 9.5 cm de alto
La boca: 3 cm de ancho y el grosor es de 1/2 cm.
El rostro: 22 cm de ancho por 13 cm de alto.
Ojos: 3 cm de ancho por 4 cm de alto.
Nariz: 2 cm de ancho por 1.5 cm de alto
Círculo del lazo: 4.5 cm de diámetro.
Con la tela rosada, recorte lo que será la cabeza, coloque la tela doble y sujete el patrón con los alfileres para que no se rodara y recorte dejando un borde como de 1 cm.
De la tela negra, recorte dos piezas para los ojos y uno para la boca y sin dejar bordes. Una pieza con la tela blanca para el rostro, también sin dejar bordes. Con la tela azul, recorte dos piezas para el lazo, dejando bordes.
Por el lado derecho de la tela rosada ubico el rostro y la fijo con alfileres para luego coserlo, con puntadas rectas por todo el borde, tal como se muestra en la imagen.

Realizo el mismo procedimiento para coser los ojos, la nariz y la boca.
Luego coso por todo el borde de la cara, dejando una abertura por la parte de abajo para introducir el relleno. Y después le hice unos cortes por todo el borde, para que a la hora de voltearla, en las curvas, quede con buena forma.
Relleno el cojín y después coso la abertura.
Después que corte el moño, cosí por todo el borde dejando una abertura por donde introduje el relleno y cerré. Con el mismo hilo, lo pasé por el medio del lazo, apretándolo para que le dé forma de amarrado. Con la tela amarilla, recorte un círculo y cosí por todo el borde con una costura recta, para luego rellenarlo y cerrarlo. Luego lo cosí justo al centro del lazo.
Para finalizar, cosí el lazo en una de las orejas y en la otra le hice un doblez y la cosí a la cara para sujetarla.
Y así quedo este hermoso cojín.
