Espero que se encuentren súper bien. Hoy quiero compartirles nuestra consulta con la infectóloga pediatra de mi hijo Dylan antes de su regreso a clases.
Como les he comentado, mi bebé fue diagnosticado hace 5 meses con púrpura trombocitopénica, una enfermedad que se caracteriza por el descenso de plaquetas en la sangre, lo que causa moretones o hemorragias. Fue un impacto muy fuerte. Esto llevó a una operación para extirparle el apéndice y a muchas complicaciones. Nos mudamos e hicimos muchos cambios para lograr la excelente recuperación de mi hijo, lo que hemos logrado gracias a Dios y a que él ha sido muy fuerte.

I hope you are doing great. Today, I want to share with you our consultation with my son Dylan's pediatric infectious disease specialist before he returned to school.
As I've mentioned before, my baby was diagnosed 5 months ago with thrombocytopenic purpura, a disease characterized by a drop in blood platelets, which causes bruises or hemorrhages. It was a very strong impact. This led to an operation to remove his appendix and many complications. We moved and made many changes to achieve my son's excellent recovery, which we have accomplished thanks to God and to him being so strong.

Después de un mes de recuperación, su hematólogo nos dio la noticia de que ya no tiene púrpura. Sin embargo, debemos seguir en control porque la enfermedad puede volver a activarse, ya que fue causada por un virus que sigue presente en su organismo, aunque inactivo. Ya puede volver a sus actividades normales, pero con mucho cuidado.
A casi 6 meses de su recuperación de la operación, puede volver a clases. Pero antes, debía hacerse exámenes de control de infecciones. Como tuvo 4 transfusiones de plaquetas para poder operarlo, ahora tiene un control de exámenes para VIH, hepatitis y VDRL, para descartar cualquier infección que haya podido contagiarse en esas transfusiones. Más que todo son controles, pero gracias a Dios todo salió negativo. Debíamos llevarlo a la infectóloga para un control, y el próximo será en enero y el último en abril, donde ya quedaríamos descartados por completo de estas infecciones.

After a month of recovery, his hematologist gave us the news that he no longer has purpura. However, we must remain in control because the disease can reactivate, as it was caused by a virus that remains present in his system, although inactive. He can now return to his normal activities, but with a lot of care.
Almost 6 months after his operation, he can go back to school. But first, he had to have infection control tests. Since he had 4 platelet transfusions to be operated on, he now has a series of tests for HIV, hepatitis, and VDRL to rule out any infection he might have contracted during those transfusions. They are mostly checkups, but thank God everything came back negative. We had to take him to the infectious disease specialist for a checkup, and the next one will be in January and the last one in April, when we would be completely cleared of these infections.

Pronto le tocará su otra consulta con el hematólogo, pero mientras tanto, todo va muy bien. Lo único es que debemos ser muy cuidadosos con los virus en la escuela, ya que todavía está muy susceptible a contraer uno, y corre el riesgo de que la enfermedad se reactive. Hay un 50/50 de que esto suceda, pero por recomendación de la doctora no puedo tenerlo encerrado; debo dejar que haga una vida como cualquier niño y con mucha precaución, sin negarle una vida tranquila.
