Happy Saturday Hivers!

I never really expected to meet someone who’s almost the same as me in so many things. Have you ever experienced that? Like having the same birthday, the same favorite food, and even the same preferences when it comes to people’s personalities?

I had an officemate back in the construction company where I used to work. At first, I didn’t know that this person would eventually become one of my closest friends. I was assigned to the HR department, while she was in the Accounting department. Even if we weren’t in the same team, we grew close because she was always so helpful during company events. She’s the type of person who takes initiative—no need to tell her what to do because she just acts right away. That’s when I realized we were really going to get along.

##
One time, I checked the birthdays posted on the company’s bulletin board and to our surprise, we found out that we actually shared the same birthday. Another time, one of our officemates brought a whole jackfruit to work. Guess what? The two of us ended up eating most of it since jackfruit happens to be both our favorite. From then on, we would often joke that we were practically twins.

##
Most of the time, we went home together after work. On the way, we’d talk about the challenges we faced in the office, especially with difficult employees. We often laughed about how we disliked the exact same kinds of people.
I know it’s rare in life to meet someone who shares so many similarities with you. Even though we don’t see each other every day anymore—since I transferred to a different company—we still make sure to keep in constant communication.
##

##
Just last month, we both celebrated our birthdays. We couldn’t celebrate on the exact date because of our different schedules, but we promised each other that we would celebrate together, even if it was a little late. Finally, last Saturday, our schedules matched. Coincidentally, we were both craving the famous “Siomai sa Tisa,” the most delicious and popular siomai in Cebu. So, we agreed to go eat there.
##

##
It was supposed to be just the two of us, but when she mentioned it to her eldest child, who was also craving siomai, her kid decided to join us. It turned out even more fun.
It was a simple celebration—just simple food we were both craving—but for us, it wasn’t about anything fancy. What mattered was that we celebrated our birthdays together and enjoyed each other’s company. Our hearts were full of happiness simply because we found the time for each other.
How about you—have you ever found a friend who’s almost the same as you in so many ways?
