One of the Filipino Traits

Happy Friday Hivers! ## I honestly don’t believe that our country is poor, because we are blessed with abundant natural resources. The real problem lies in the poor governance and widespread corruption, which is why our nation is in this situation. ## Still, even if we’re not wealthy when it comes to money, we are rich in other aspects, and that’s one of the reasons why some foreigners choose to live here in the Philippines. ## ![IMG_0494.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/kellyane/23x1S4cNqFdZVGsPtsSdVkFfGJMChQQXw36QFqCv8k9UD4DmJ2P9Yg6mVmpLmBkYLMaKC.jpeg) ## One of the admirable traits of us Filipinos is our compassion, our ability to offer help when someone is in pain, facing problems, or grieving a loss. No matter how unpleasant a neighbor’s attitude may be, or even if you’ve had past disagreements, they will still come to you and offer comfort when someone passes away. Even if that person is not a family member, Filipinos will still reach out and offer help in any way they can. That’s one of the qualities I’m truly proud of as a Filipino. ## Last Monday, my uncle, my father’s brother — passed away. He was already 82 years old. Since he and my father were very close, we felt sad and worried for our dad, thinking he might take it too hard, especially now that he’s already old. But our father has always been a strong person, both in heart and in spirit. ## ![IMG_0493.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/kellyane/23yTr7GaaRTgjMS7eQ7AXSCpqyMmhr2RNN3qAwC3xFDNvHSM8ufR3LGHJ6MGF9XPaLMTz.jpeg) ## As part of our way of helping, our eldest sibling asked what we could contribute to the family. We all agreed to prepare snacks for those who would attend the wake and keep vigil. In the Philippines, when someone passes away, we don’t usually bury them right away. The body stays at home for several days, and people take turns keeping vigil — especially when the family is still waiting for other relatives to arrive. ## So our elder brother and sister-in-law bought sliced bread and spreads for tonight’s snacks. They prepared sandwiches so that our uncle’s family wouldn’t have to spend money for the refreshments. This is how it truly is here in the Philippines. people come together and help one another in times of need. ## Even if the help offered is small, they are always deeply grateful for it. If you ever come to the Philippines, you won’t feel alone — because no matter where you go, you’ll always find Filipinos who are willing to lend a hand when you’re going through difficult times. ##

Namaste! I am fond of reading books, watching korean, american and filipino series/movies and I am also fond of gardening. I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
