A Story of Twilight the haunted toy cat.
The broad shouldered uniformed officer pulled up his chair to the table, placing down a laptop then opening it up. The room was sparse and featureless other than the basic furnishings, a large mirror on the right wall, and an overhead lamp. His partner opens a metal case and removes a camera and proceeded to check it's settings.
"I'm Constable Thomas Burke and this is my partner Lieutenant Claudia McCain, we're here to follow up, file and refer your case to the appropriate department. " Mike Murphy rested his sore bandaged hands on the table. His bloodshot eyes turned to his girlfriend Shirley Pierce, her eyes looked just as weary, tired and no better than his from the events they've endured over the weeks. "Go ahead and tell them Mike. I'm tired of this."
The Lieutenant reached out and held her hand, "It's okay, you're safe now. " Mike straightened in his chair, admitting that he was in the process of committing to the crime of breaking and entering for the act of theft. Not just this one, but a string of unsolved burglaries. He admitted that they prowled the internet for targeting the homes of individuals in possession of valuable assets and collectibles shared in forums, chat rooms, video, blogging platforms, any social websites. His programming talent is in personal information gathering using a combination of Artificial Intelligent algorithms can build a comprehensive profile of any given individual in often under a minute, One couldn't imagine how much personal data is out there. It was a literal gold mine. His girlfriend Shirley was an out of work phone network specialist in Geo-location technology, a vital skill set in their trade.

The latest target was a home of a single woman with two kids, according to her A. I. generated profile. She has been a precious metals hoarder, colloquially referred to as a Stacker. This conclusion is based largely on her interactions on various social platforms. What was shared online wasn’t very substantial but with years of Stacking, the A.I. projected that the target has a substantial enough size of precious metals to warrant making an attempt. Photos of neighborhood landmarks, image meta data combined to narrowed down the approximate address.
The opportunity came from a copied Text message of the family driving off for an evening Birthday dinner.
As the family drove off Mike parked the van in the back lane, opened his laptop and began to hack into the Home’s router, “Got it, sending...” Shirley sets up the mirror software and ran the hackware confirming the IR hank shake protocol suspending the live data with a fake set, He grins and pumps his fist, “We’re in and everything is in place. What could possibly go wrong?”
After picking the backdoor deadbolt lock Mike slips in. Shirley followed and spotted the security tablet on the phone desk. The Password request wasn’t triggered, the improvised mirror patch is working. No signal has been sent.

Their eyes made a quick scan of the kitchen. Out of nowhere a grey tabby cat approached Shirley flopped then sprawled on the floor for a tummy rub. Shirley ignored it and stepped over the furry hazard before slipping out of the kitchen to find the master bed room. Valuables were rarely found in the kitchen. On the dinner table were some unopened mail, a freshly carved Halloween pumpkin, and a place setting for photography. A few large silver coins were laid on the black cloth. He slipped them into his sports bag before proceeding into the living room.
The living room was almost dark. His hardhat flashlight alights the fireplace mantle, a set of Katanas were on display between two pairs of small chests. Mike picked the nearest chest on the left. It contained a photo of a woman being awarded as the top student of her Kenjutsu class. Ribbons, a silver medallion and a certificate written in both English and Japanese.
Of the many private homes they have broken into this wasn’t a typical living space, a pair of recliners, a love seat, an over-cluttered coffee table and a dusty seldom used widescreen television. An eclectic variety of art and memorabilia on the walls. A feeling of anxiety weighed down in his stomach is in one corner of the room stood a mannequin wearing a Hakama dojo uniform, at another corner a red accented black Lolita styled outfit with a silver Jolly Roger broach. A third was a Victorian styled dress that’s blacker than the night. All three standing at the dark corners of the room like quiet sentinels. He then noted the collection of swords and blades on the wall. “Weird.” He thought. The room became darker and felt colder.

The computer on the desk flickered on. The screens illuminating the empty chair. Outside, the evening breeze shifted the tree branches back and forth. The street lamp splattering its shadows through the window into the living room. The room took on a whole different atmosphere.
Shirley stepped into the room from the opposite side, she has a Sentry fire security case in her arms, “Bingo! Help me with this, it’s heavy.” Mike shook the case, it sounded very promising like the shifting of coins inside, “There’s got to be a fortune in this.” He gently puts the case down. "What do we have here?" A dual screened computer is nestled into a hutch desk. All around it were figurines, knick knacks, black nail polish, shopping receipts, an open black plastic box, some silver coins, and a smiling little toy cat holding what appeared to be silver bars.

The open black box glistened with silver bars. "Wow." Mike lifts the bar from the paws of the toy cat. "1 TROY OZ. FINE SILVER...jackpot!" Flipping the bar over revealed an image of a black cat with a sinister Cheshire-like smile, posing between a pair of pumpkins. A loud meow emanated from beneath the desk.
Startled, Mike and Shirley felt their hearts skip a pair of beats. The grey tabby cat cuddled against Mike's legs in an affectionate manner only to back off realizing their response, "Shirley, lock this cat in a bedroom." After taking a deep breath to relieve the tension she placed the grey tabby in the master bedroom and shut the door. "I don't like this house, it's giving me the creeps." "You're right, we shouldn't linger. " He first takes the coins and quickly stuffs them into the sports bag, followed by the black box of bars, and then the silver bars from around the toy black cat.
".• ｍ𝐞ＯŴ... •._.•´¯)?" Mike and Shirley hesitated. Shirley's expression began to show fear. That wasn't the Tabby. It sounded dimensionless coming from no particular direction yet resonated in the room. It was not a wail but amounted to a feeling of sadness. ".• ｍ𝐞ＯŴ... •._.•´¯)?"
Another tiny but just as dimensionless voice emanating from the top of the hutch, It was a small wooden Netsuki figure, "Now you did it, you took Twilight's favorite bar, give it back to him or you'll be sorry. I, Jin jin of the Celestial monastery give you heed. Return the Cat bars to Twilight."
"I can't continue!" Mike chokes and wipes his face nervously. Shirley sobbed, "It, it's too much...I can still hear it in my sleep!" "Relax, you are both safe here." assured Constable Burke. Then he looked and nodded at the Interrogation room's large mirror to two Federal agents concealed in the observation room.
The male agent is of slim build, stoic and calm, "Poor kids. They're scared to death. What do you think Scully?" The woman replied, "Hallmarks of the silver Collector, Mulder. We may have stumbled onto our 500 year old Vampire friend." "The Bloody Raven." "Exactly." "I checked the address, the house has been empty and vacant for years. No one lives there."
