A different kind of happiness

There's happy and then there's that kind of happy, the one that hits different when you see someone's face light up because of you.

Last week my mom decided my brother and I needed to drop everything and take a random trip to visit our cousin who lives 40 mins away in a a nearby town outside the city and during a past visit she mentioned to my mother how no one ever comes to see her place. And that how come mum kept pushing that agenda to go see her. It was meant to be a surprise visit.

We used a motorcycle to go there. My brother has been to her place (Kumbungu) some few years ago and thanks to his vague memory of her place we manage not to get lost. When we got there we knocked on her door and she replied with a confused "who is there"through the window. I guess she wasn't expecting anyone. The second she saw us her face went from "Huh" to NO WAY in half a second and that was priceless. She let us in and we talked nonsense πŸ˜‚ and did some catching up. Naturally food became the priority. "Rice and stew or baby rice"? she asked, already dragging me to the kitchen πŸ˜‚.I picked baby rice because easier and faster to make. Hm I thought I was just going to assist but jokes on me, she had different plans. She left me in charge and went out of the kitchen finally reappearing to help when the hard hard work was done. Then midway cooking she randomly said let's go to Botanga eco resort. My brother was reluctant at first but you know, a spontaneous girls plan always win.

After eating we packed water, drinks, snacks . Along with her 3 year old boy we took off, I rode her bike and my brother picked her and the boy on ours.

The place wasn't far from her town. I can't remember but like 20mins ride away. We got there, got a seat and started with snacks whiles observing the place, obviously we didn't budget for actual activities, like kayaking, quad bike, boat tour and jet ski. We were there for the free joy and pictures πŸ˜‚ I guess.

It wasn't fancy but it was fun, ☺️.

We came back to her place and by the time we left she was practically glowing. She told us we should visit often and I could tell she meant it.

And that is the thing about making someone happy it doesn't always take grand gesture, just show up, eat nice food and laugh about how life somehow turns unplanned days into the best ones.

Thanks for reading 😊
