There’s something special about this song I’m about to sing, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. It’s one of those songs that finds its way into your heart quietly, and then never really leaves.
I first heard it as a child while watching Shrek. Back then, I didn’t understand the lyrics at all, but the sound stayed with me. I remember that scene so clearly, it was emotional, even for a cartoon. That was my first taste of how music can make you feel something deep, even if you don’t fully get it yet.
As I grew older, I came across the song again, and this time, the words started to make sense. It talks about brokenness, love, loss, and still finding something sacred in the middle of it all. That really moved me.
So today, I’m singing Hallelujah, not just because it’s beautiful, but because it holds a piece of my journey. I hope it reaches you the same way it reached me.

Lyrics
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor falls, the major lifts
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well, maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Is how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
But it’s not a crime that you’re here tonight
It’s not some pilgrim who claims to have seen the light
No, it’s a cold and it’s a very broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
