Hi my friend. I hope you are well. In this post, I’d like to share three outstanding artworks created by one of my online students, Ms. Zeinali. These portraits were completed as part of my comprehensive online charcoal portrait drawing course, hosted on Telegram.
About the Course
The course is structured into three main chapters and includes a total of 50 recorded video lessons. It is designed for absolute beginners and walks students through the entire process of portrait drawing with charcoal — from understanding facial structure and proportions to mastering shading, textures, and fine details.
Feedback and Support
A key feature of this course is the personalized feedback I provide. Students submit photos of their drawings, and I review them by marking the issues directly on the image. Then I record a detailed video response, explaining the necessary corrections and guiding them on how to improve. This method has proven highly effective in helping students progress with confidence and clarity.
Student Work – Ms. Zeinali
Here are three examples of Ms. Zeinali’s work, showcasing her growth, attention to detail, and mastery of the charcoal technique:
- Full-face Portrait with Scarf A study in smooth skin rendering and realistic fabric texture. This drawing reflects careful tonal control and thoughtful composition, drawing the viewer’s eye directly to the subject’s expression.
- Close-up Side Profile In this exercise, the focus was on facial features — especially the eyes and lips — and achieving photo-realistic depth. The soft shading and precise contrast make this portrait emotionally engaging.
- Detailed Eye and Hand Study One of the advanced exercises in the course, focusing on the intricate details of the eye and surrounding skin. The careful depiction of the eyelashes, brow, and hand texture demonstrate strong observation skills and technical precision. Thanks for watching ♥️.
