Hello sports lovers. I trust you're doing excellently well and enjoying the weekend.

Today is the final day of Mission X by the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

What is Mission X?

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have won the WAFCON (Women’s Africa Cup of Nations) title nine times, and in this ongoing tournament in Morocco, the Nigeria Football Federation tagged it “Mission X” — a mission to win the 10th title. Nigeria has long been the powerhouse of women’s football in Africa. The tournament has been held 13 times, and out of these, Nigeria has won it nine times. Isn’t that superb?

The vision for Mission X has been active ever since this tournament began in Morocco. Nigeria has been a powerful force, dismantling other challenging nations (teams) in the tournament such as South Africa, Zambia, and others. Now, today is the final day of the tournament — just one last dance — and the mission will be completed, hopefully in a positive way.

It’s a match between Morocco and Nigeria!

I have been a big-time follower of women’s African football, and I can recall clearly during the last tournament in 2022 when Morocco hosted it, and we met in the semi-final. That night, I angrily turned off my phone halfway through the game and went to sleep. It’s not that the Nigerian team played poorly — no, it wasn’t that. It was the officiating pattern. It was so biased to the extent that two Nigerian players were red-carded. Do you know what that means? It means Nigeria, with just nine players, had to play against eleven Moroccan players.

As for Morocco, I don't know how it happened, it was obvious that they had bought over all the officials. Being the host, they wanted to win the match at all costs. Their fans also filled the stadium with laser lights, deliberately blocking the vision of the Nigerian players.

Am I just talking based on emotions? Yes, emotion is there, but everything I’ve said is the truth. That match ended in a penalty shootout, and Morocco won. Even at that, our girls fought and won our hearts, because it's not easy for nine players to hold off eleven players and prevent them from scoring in 120 minutes of play.

Am I hating Morocco? No. But I just want that revenge to happen. Let’s avenge the injustice and, most importantly, let’s complete Mission X in grand style — by lifting the trophy!

Are you not going to support us? Of course, you don’t have a choice! 😂

Time of the match: 8:00 p.m. (Nigeria time) tonight.

Thanks.
