When we come to define someone being successful in life, it means different things to different people and as for me, I have my own definition too as it relates to me. Success comes with smashing goals or you may say dreams at different levels. To me, success does not have an ultimate; it comes in batches, and one cannot stop aiming to be successful. What do I mean?
You'll see a family with a husband and wife and two children, financially balanced, and it feels like they've achieved success. Yes, that's success, but at that point, they're still dreaming of something or a higher level, which is to see that their children go to school, graduate, and get a job. Does it end there? No, after their children have graduated and gotten a job, their dream moves to another level, which is to see that their children are happily married. Does it end there? No, after marriage, of course, their dream is to see that their children produce offspring too, which are grandchildren to them. Does it end there? No! The dream will continue, hoping for this and that. You see the line—they have counted many successes and are still counting.
At the moment, what are the dreams or the successes I'm aiming at?
Mehn, money has 90% of my dreams right now. If my hand can lay on the money I'm hunting for, then this set of dreams I have that I want to come true will be easy-peasy while I move on to another level of success.
I hear people say that having money is not success and shouldn't be someone's dream. Well, I understand their perspective, but truth be told, the success that's based on an empty stomach is just 1% of success, and in one way or the other, they're going to need that money to maintain whatsoever thing they count as success.
Has there been a time I dreamt and I couldn't fulfill the dream?
We are humans, and we are bound to stumble once in a while, especially in this life where there are many hurdles to cross before one gets to a set goal. But come to think of it, the only time I almost gave up on a dream was when I was finding it hard to get admitted into a tertiary institution. I was really frustrated, but I tarried on, I kept pushing, I kept writing exams upon exams, and at the end, just at the verge of giving up, everything clicked and I saw the admission letter walk to me majestically.
