People with light skin...

Okay, in this part of the continent, we have two major complexions, which are either light in complexion or dark in complexion. I belong to the light-in-complexion zone and hey, I have seen and heard a lot from the female gender with this type of complexion, and it makes me wonder a lot if it’s not the same complexion that I have.

Before you continue, this post is not intended to discriminate against or abuse any kind of look, whether light or dark complexion, thin or chubby, short or tall. Thank you for understanding.

So, in this part of the world, I do not know how we ended up giving a higher rating to people that are light in complexion. With this, most (take note please, "most" means not all of them, so you that’s reading this, you’re not inclusive lol😅) light skinned ladies feel they’re on top of the world and, at the end, if care is not taken, it takes a toll on them. What do I mean?

These ladies in this category strike very hot with their light body because, naturally, they’re attractive, and so, everyone comes to them.

Yeah, I’m talking from experience. I know of a lady that died from HIV/AIDS because of how her enchanting skin did not allow her to stay in one place. She kept attracting all manners of people, including the big men in town, and she was striking the rod while it was hot, but in the end, her life was crashed.

I know you want to say that she deliberately gave in to those people’s demands and not necessarily that her light complexion was the cause. Well, that may be the case too, but hey, it was very obvious that her light skin took control of her thoughts, and she thought it was nice to market it.

Once again, sorry if this touched you, but the truth is, our body image can lead us to our downfall if we lack the ability to control it or love our body the right way.

I’m light-skinned — a very light one — that, sometimes back then, people used to take me for an albino, and I was bullied a lot. I felt bad about my complexion. I regretted it at that time, but a time came when one lady I was close to admired my complexion and wished she had mine.

“What do you mean? You’re fair! Can’t you see that you’re even fairer than me?” I questioned her when she opened her mouth to tell me that she liked my complexion, meanwhile she’s fair in complexion. That was when every inferiority thought I had in my mind wiped off. I started liking my body from that moment, and ever since then, my life has not remained the same.

Do you know that a lot of people have lost their lives due to depression caused by bullying over their physical looks? Yes, it happens.

We have the responsibility to love our look, and we should not allow it — either good or bad — to take over us and have us controlled.

Thanks for reading.
