Why did the house of prayer in Jerusalem become a den of thieves? (Part 1)

I have been getting tagged frequently to join in the topics of this community, and I decided to give it a shot today. I am to review the topic discussed in the video below:

Okay, going into the review of the video,

I learnt some interesting things in this first part of the teaching (part 1).

In the book of Matthew 21:13, it says: "And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

This is Jesus Christ quoting the words of Prophet Jeremiah from the early days, even before He was born, and addressing the people.

Prophet Jeremiah, during his days, laid emphasis on God’s house being the house of prayer, and you can also find that in the book of Isaiah 56:7: "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people."

So Jesus Christ is saying that the house, which is God’s house—the house of prayer—has been turned into a den of thieves, and it is a very bad thing to think about.

Okay, even without digging deep into the scriptures to know what the “den of thieves” is all about and what really happened, you will agree with me that the church of nowadays, or even from the days of old, has lost a lot and has been harbouring all manner of thievery in different forms. Yes, you should have an idea when such a thing is said or don't you?

Anyways, at the end of this teaching, I mean this part 1, a peep was given into the forms of the “den of thieves,” which includes the trading and markets in the church.

I will find time to make a review of part two.

Thanks for reading.
