Hello friends! πΈ For this trip, Iβd like to take you on a cultural and artistic journey to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand πΉπ. As Iβve mentioned in several posts before, Ayutthaya is well known among both Thais and foreigners as a city full of temples π, preserving its traditional culture, and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage City π. One of the most popular attractions here is the Ayutthaya Historical Park, which is home to many important temples.
This time, Iβd like to introduce you to another unique temple β the Purple Ubosot π. Itβs truly one-of-a-kind, beautiful, and still not very crowded since construction is ongoing π§. What makes it even more special is that the abbot himself has been devoted to building this temple for over 10 years π, starting in 2012. I believe that once it is completed, it will be absolutely stunning! β¨
βLetβs start exploring the beauty of Wat Klang Khlong Watthanaram!β
Actually, from what I studied before visiting Wat Klang Khlong Watthanaram, the Ubosot used to be very old and dilapidated ποΈ. Restoring or rebuilding it by hiring craftsmen would have required a considerable amount of money π°. Therefore, the abbot of Wat Klang Khlong Watthanaram came up with the idea to rebuild the Ubosot by relying on the faith and support of local villagers ππ·ββοΈ, along with receiving donations according to peopleβs beliefs π. The abbot personally oversaw and carried out the construction himself π οΈ
When arriving here, before entering the Ubosot, the ground floor is an open courtyard adorned with twinkling purple lights πβ¨. Before entering, visitors must take off their shoes ππ to pay respects and make merit, wishing for blessings and good fortune for themselves.
When walking up to the Ubosot
When walking up to the Ubosot, before entering inside, we saw an elderly lady wearing a purple shirt π, matching the templeβs purple theme. Do you know why it is purple? The choice of purple represents a combination of earthly energy and supernatural energy β¨. When I entered, I could truly feel the beauty of this symbolism. Most importantly, purple signifies a connection to faith and serenity π
Before entering, there is a sign inviting visitors to contribute to the temple by sponsoring lotus decorations on the Ubosotβs pillars. A small set costs 1,000 THB, and a large set costs 1,500 THB. Alternatively, we can choose to offer glass balls and garlands as a form of worship. Donations for the construction are completely voluntary, according to each personβs faith ππ
Inside the Ubosot
When I entered the Ubosot, I was amazed by the stunning art here π. It looked truly magical and was definitely worth the trip. The surrounding atmosphere is purple π, evoking a sense of wonder and highlighting the beauty of the intricate interior decorations. The lighting reflects off the patterns, making the whole space feel even more enchanting β¨
- Before admiring the beautiful architecture here, I paid respects to the Buddha statue in the Maravichai posture π to invite blessings for myself. I also offered glass balls π to contribute to the construction of the Ubosot.
And here are some photos of the interior of the Ubosot for you all to enjoy πΈ
From what I observed inside, the colors focus on purple and red πβ€οΈ, adorning the ceiling, walls, and decorative lights beautifully β¨. After paying respects to the Buddha statue in the Maravichai posture π, we walk under the Bodhi tree for good fortune π³. The temple is still undergoing continuous renovations both inside and outside, as locals are painting and contributing to the construction π¨π·ββοΈ. Once it is fully completed, I definitely wonβt miss the chance to visit again and admire its complete and stunning beauty!
