It’s my day off today, and I realized that I’ve been working in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya for about two months now but haven’t really explored the cultural side of this place yet. So, I woke up early to get ready for a little adventure around Ayutthaya. 🚲 One of the places on my list is called “Wat Mahathat” 🏯✨
It’s a working day, so I thought there wouldn’t be many tourists. 😄 But when I arrived, there were actually lots of international visitors! 🌍 Right at the entrance, there were tuk-tuks offering sightseeing tours around Ayutthaya 🚜, as well as bicycles for rent 🚲 — perfect for a leisurely ride while getting some exercise at the same time. 💪
I think the unique charm of this place lies in its small, brightly colored tuk-tuks. 🚜 In Bangkok, it would be the taxis that stand out in their own way. 🚖 I find them really cute. 😊
Inside “Wat Mahathat”
Upon entering, we need to purchase a ticket to explore the ancient ruins of Wat Mahathat. 🏯 From the outside, it looks beautiful and unique, and it has not been renovated or altered. It has been preserved in its original form, allowing us to truly experience and witness its authentic charm.
I think the highlight here is the Buddha’s head entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree. 🌳 Visitors who come to see the ancient ruins never miss the chance to take a photo at this spot — and of course, I didn’t miss it either. 😄📸
After taking photos of the Buddha’s head in the Bodhi tree roots, I strolled around the area, enjoying capturing more pictures. 📸 It was such a wonderful half-day for me — the weather wasn’t too hot, and I had so much fun photographing the surroundings, which looked absolutely amazing. ✨
After happily snapping away with my camera, I began to feel a bit tired. So, I walked over to the riverside to sit and rest, enjoying the cool breeze and an atmosphere filled with the sounds of birds, wind, and water. 🌿💧 It made my day off feel truly special, helping me recover my energy and appreciate how amazing Thailand is — because every province has its own unique attractions.
In Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, there are countless historical stories to be told — from politics, agriculture, and trade, to the beauty of art and culture that has been passed down to the present day, all of which can be seen through its many ancient ruins. 🏯
I was looking for a spot to sit by the riverside, but oh — why is there a dog lounging so comfortably, not letting me pass by? 🐶 Of course, this little fellow must be the local resident here! 😄
I sat by the riverside for a while, taking in the green water and the cool breeze. 🌿💧 It made me want to stay here peacefully for a long time, as if it could wash away all my stress. This was my short trip in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya at Wat Mahathat.
