Hola mi gente hermosa ✨💕!
Hello hello community 💕, A few days ago, I was invited to participate in this rather creative [initiative](https://peakd.com/hive-176634/@hive-176634/pink-month-initiative-eng-esp) for Pink Month. I must say that I was surprised to be invited, as I haven't interacted much in this community, but as soon as I saw what it was about, I immediately decided to join. At first, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to draw and colour, but beyond that, I didn't have a clear idea. It wasn't until I sat down to do it that I came up with the idea of making a bookmark, because reading is one of my favourite hobbies 💖. So, with that in mind, I went to work on the paper, or rather, the card.
 ---
The main material for this project is card, which in this case comes from my sketchbook. Using a ruler, I drew two rectangles measuring 16 cm long by 6 cm wide. The first thing I did was sketch both drawings, one for each rectangle, because I am going to paint with markers and this card is not thick enough, so the colours tend to show through to the back, and I want the bookmark to have drawings on both sides.

I knew from the start that I wanted one side to have a phrase, so with the sketch ready, I started writing it, combining some letters. However, along the way, I realised that the other side also needed something, so I erased the drawings I had made at the bottom and added a simpler message, because it is important to remember that it is not just about *Pink Month*, but what it represents, the struggles behind this day: ***getting a medical check-up in time can save our lives***.

With the sketches ready, I moved on to colouring with my markers, and I'll be honest, this was the best part 😂. Then I traced everything with my black ink pen, including the writing, and cut out both rectangles to finally glue them together with white glue. To prevent the bookmark from bending because of the glue, I let it dry flattened under a stack of papers 😂.

Something I have never mentioned here, and in fact I think few of my friends know, is that my paternal grandmother died of breast cancer. It was not only the lack of an early check-up but also the malpractice of a doctor that led to her death on 19 December 2006. Today I hardly remember her, but I am very aware of what cancer can do to a family 💔. If you know someone who is a cancer survivor, let them know how great their struggle was and remind them of this phrase 👇🏻.
✨ Every day is an opportunity to Take Care of Yourself and Flourish ✨
