¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, ésta vez voy a arrancar éste post sin suavizar mi opinión, *detesto ésta serie* 😂 no hay forma posible en la que yo de verdad ame la historia que se contó a lo largo de 3 temporadas, y la verdad es que cuando comencé viendo ésta serie recién estrenada se primera temporada, sí me gustó un poco lo que veía, estaban obviamente todos los argumentos cuestionables que la trama defendía pero había algo que me enganchaba, cuando salió la segunda temporada pasé de ella (o sea no la ví) y cuando se estrenó la última temporada decidí darme un maratón, y con éste me dí cuenta lo mucho que me incomodaba ver la historia, así que por eso hoy hablaremos de ***El Verano en que me Enamoré 🏖️💖***.

There were obviously all the questionable arguments that the plot defended, but there was something that hooked me. When the second season came out, I skipped it (meaning I didn't watch it), and when the last season premiered, I decided to binge-watch it, and with this one, I realised how uncomfortable I felt watching the story, so that's why today we're going to talk about ***The Summer I Turned Pretty 🏖️💖***.

💖 SINOPSIS || SYNOPSIS 🏖️
**Belly Conklin** suele pasar todos los veranos juntos a su familia y la familia Fisher en una casa de playa, ésta tradición se ha construido gracias a que tanto su mamá como la ama de los Fisher son mejores amigas desde hace años, y ella se han encargado de mantener la unión entre sus hijos, sin embargo todo parece cambiar un verano, ahora Belly se ve envuelta en un triángulo amoroso entre dos hermanos, a uno ella lo considera su mejor amigo y al otro su primer amor.
**Conrad y Jeremiah** llevan años conociendo a Belly y su hermano, han crecido juntos y han vivido millones de anécdotas con sus amigos los Conklin, ahora no solo han descubierto que ambos tienen sentimientos románticos por ella, sino que una terrible noticia familiar los acecha y ésta puede cambiar para siempre sus vidas.

💖 ELEGIR ENTRE MI MEJOR AMIGO Y MI PRIMER AMOR || CHOOSING BETWEEN MY BEST FRIEND AND MY FIRST LOVE 🏖️
Ésta producción de Prime Video está basada en la novela homónima de Jenny Han, la misma autora de los libros de *A Todos los Chicos de los que me Enamoré*, y fue estrenada en el año 2022 contando con 3 temporadas siendo la última las más larga de capitulos (11 en total) y la cual finalizó a penas la semana pasada. La trama tiene un montón de elementos que me molestan bastante, siento que en algunos aspectos es bastante predecible y al menos para mí la temporada 2 es la más floja de todas, sin embargo no arrancaré con lo que no me gustó, sino al contrario, con lo que sí me gustó.
Hablar de ésta serie es traer a la mente 2 cosas: triángulo amoroso y estética, y si hay algo que se supo manejar de forma impecable en ésta producción es sin duda su **estética**, teniendo así una paleta de colores increíble y un cuidado por los pequeños detalles que daba gusto ver.
This Prime Video production is based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han, the same author of the *To All the Boys I've Loved Before* books, and was released in 2022 with three seasons, the last of which was the longest (11 episodes in total) and ended just last week. The plot has a lot of elements that bother me quite a bit. I feel that in some ways it is quite predictable and, at least for me, season 2 is the weakest of all. However, I will not start with what I did not like, but rather with what I did like.
Talking about this series brings two things to mind: love triangles and aesthetics. If there is one thing that was handled impeccably in this production, it is undoubtedly its **aesthetics**, with an incredible colour palette and attention to small details that were a pleasure to see.

A lo largo de las tres temporadas se pudo ver como la escenografía y todos los elementos en ella no estaban allí al azar, eran parte de la misma historia y nos iban transmitiendo los sentimientos de los personajes, sus temores y los sucesos venideros, aquellos que aún no se podían plasmar de manera explícita. Algo característico de ésta historia también ha sido su soundtrack, aspecto que me encanta porque si hay algo que disfruto de las producciones es la música, sí había momentos en donde sentí que exageraban con éste elemento, y parecía más mi playlist en modo aleatorio sin pausa alguna, pero en general creo que musicalización se consolidó como un sello de ésta serie, eso sí, manejaban bastante presupuesto si tuvieron como pagar los derechos de autor de Taylor Swift 😂😂.
Aún así, ¿Es ésto suficiente para crear una historia lo suficientemente popular?, pues al parecer sí porque ésta historia no solo se convirtió en un éxito, sino en todo un fenómeno entre las adolescentes y adultas jóvenes, llegando incluso a resucitar los *“team”* que fueron tan famosos en aquella época de Crepúsculo y Diarios de Vampiros.
Throughout the three seasons, it was clear that the set design and all the elements in it were not there by chance; they were part of the story itself and conveyed the characters' feelings, their fears and the events to come, those that could not yet be explicitly expressed. Another characteristic feature of this story has been its soundtrack, something I love because if there is one thing I enjoy about productions, it is the music. There were moments when I felt they overdid it with this element, and it seemed more like my playlist on random mode without any pause, but in general I think the music became a hallmark of this series. Of course, they must have had quite a budget if they could afford to pay Taylor Swift's royalties 😂😂.
Even so, is this enough to create a story that is popular enough? Apparently so, because this story not only became a success, but a phenomenon among teenagers and young adults, even reviving the *‘teams’* that were so famous in the days of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

Desde mi perspectiva ¿Qué hizo tan famosa a ésta serie?¿Con qué conectaron los televidentes?, aunque terminé odiando a los protagonistas por razones específicas de cada uno, y la historia no me terminó de convencer, he de admitir que veo el enganche en elloa, para empezar tenemos a personajes bastante complejos, *Belly* es la chica que ha crecido para complacer a los demás por encima de ella, ha vivido enamorada del mismo chico desde que tiene memoria y en un punto no sabe diferenciar sus sentimientos entre lo que es cariño de amigos y cariño de novios; creo que un bueno número de nosotros podemos ver como en la adolescencia éramos un poco como ella.
Por otro lado *Conrad* cumple con el rol de hijo primogénito perfecto, ése al que le exigen cuidar de los menores, callando sus sentimientos por el bienestar del resto, una persona sin las herramientas emocionales correctas para gestionarse porque a fin de cuentas ¿Para que necesita él eso si ya es perfecto?. Y *Jeremiah* es ese que siempre está, siempre alegre y dispuesto a ayudar, queriendo sobresalir en un mundo donde la “perfección” de su hermano lo arropa y asfixia, aprendiendo a manipular emocionalmente para poder hacerse notar.
From my perspective, what made this series so famous? What did viewers connect with? Although I ended up hating the main characters for specific reasons, and the story didn't quite convince me, I have to admit that I see the appeal in it. To begin with, we have quite complex characters. *Belly* is the girl who has grown up to please others above herself. She has been in love with the same boy for as long as she can remember, and at one point she can't differentiate between her feelings of friendship and romantic love. I think many of us can see how we were a bit like her in our teenage years.
On the other hand, *Conrad* fulfils the role of the perfect eldest son, the one who is expected to take care of his younger siblings, silencing his feelings for the well-being of the rest of the family, a person without the right emotional tools to manage himself because, after all, why does he need them if he is already perfect? And *Jeremiah* is the one who is always there, always cheerful and willing to help, wanting to excel in a world where his brother's “perfection” envelops and suffocates him, learning to manipulate emotionally in order to be noticed.

Todos personajes complejos que además deben lidiar con los problemas comunes de la adolescencia, y las expectativas que otros han depositado en ellos, o mejor dicho, las cargas que el personaje se *Susannah Fisher* ha dejado sobre los hombros de 3 personajes demasiado jóvenes para lidiar con tanto dolor y responsabilidad. Y es que si vemos a éstos protagonistas con éstas personalidades tan marcadas y defectos que se escribieron en letra roja, no podemos dejar pasar por alto que en cierta parte son el producto de padres que llevaron una labor algo cuestionable, por mucho que sean personajes que ne agradan (hablando específicamente de las madres), no puedo ocultar que eran algo particulares a la hora de criar a sus hijos, algo que queda muy claro con la frase ***“siempre supe que acabarias con uno de mis hijos”.***
Siendo éste mensaje transmitido por Susannah y un poco reforzado por Laurel, lo que daría pie al tan odiado por mí *triángulo amoroso entre hermanos*, porque aunque la autora (quien fue parte de la producción) hizo un esfuerzo por vendernos ésto como amor, yo solo puedo pensar que **esto fue un partido en tenis donde Belly era la pelota, y pasaba de un lado al otro, de un hermano a otro**.

Quise hacer éste post hablando en general de la serie y no por temporadas, porque honestamente no tengo mucho que decir de cada una, salvo que la que menos me gustó fue la segunda, y tomando en cuenta que recién hice maratón para ponerme al día y ver el final, se me hacía más cómodo hacerlo así, no es una serie que haya disfrutado, pero obligare a mi novio a verla así que en el futuro la repetiré 😂. I wanted to write this post talking about the series in general rather than about each season, because honestly I don't have much to say about each one, except that I liked the second season the least, and considering that I just binge-watched it to catch up and see the ending, it seemed easier to do it this way. It's not a series I enjoyed, but I'm going to force my boyfriend to watch it, so I'll repeat it in the future 😂. If you haven't seen it yet, it's available on Prime Video.
