Whatās up, Hive? Itās 1:00a.m. Iād like to be in bed right now but I know if I was, Iād be doom scrolling for the next 45 minutes anyway. I decided it was better to get a Hive post on the blockchain tonight considering I do have some great content to share. Iām winding down after a long, long day. I was sick with a flu last week so didnāt work a lot. This week, Iāve been taking a ton of bookings with local restaurants and eateries and @guthrie has his play performances through the weekend. This is his first time as cast, rather than crew. Itās very exciting and he said he had a fantastic opening tonight! Iāve been wanting to sculpt in ZBrush, but thatās going to have to wait.
What I did want to share tonight was a few photos from last weekend. I have some Desi friends here in Minneapolis and weāve all been getting together for dinner parties. I was invited to a murder mystery dinner having no idea what I was signing up for. To me, this was like a board game similar to DnD or Mansions Of Madness. I started to receive links to spread sheets on foods Iāll be bringing and information about my character and costume! āTheo āThe Snapperā Wagerā. The party was to be Great Gadsby themed like we were in the 1920ās! At this point, I honestly started to regret agreeing to this as it was way outside of my comfort zone.
I talked to Saba and her husband, Wukar and they put me at ease affirming that although the costumes and storyline for the night are serious, no one will be taking it seriously other than intentionally bad accents and performances. I decided that my character could easily be a German immigrant and with enough conversational German in my repertoire, I could at least make the awkward interactions funny by yelling out something like, āAchtung! Es hat einen Mord gegeben!ā. I ordered a nice three piece suit that was delivered a few days before the dinner and a thick-ass Count Orlock mustache as a finishing touch for this ridiculous evening.
The dinner party was everything I anticipated! The company was awesome because we all get along and weāre all respectively very good cooks. I made a massive tray of vegan chicken piccata with corn fritters and asparagus soup from stalks clipped right out of my garden [ā¦massive humble brag considering I planted the as seeds four years ago]! Everyone looks fantastic and dressed the part and while we were having dinner, Aisha, one of the orchestrators of the event began to pass out cards tailored to our individual characters with instructions on what to do between acts.
The interactions once the murder mystery began was painfully cringe. Trying to play these characters was impossible. Fortunately, since my character was meant to be a photographer, I was able to hide behind the camera and document much of the drama. Near the end of the night [act five], a shriek was heard from the basement speakeasy and one of the guests was found dead. After interrogations and accusations, one of the quietest of guests; a complete wallflower, was discovered to be the killer. I had no idea that a murder mystery dinner was something I needed in my life but it actually was a lot of fun.
