Hi, everyone! It's been a while but I have been doing well recently! I had a week break from school and it was amazing. No poopy prof and her poopy homework. Never been happier. Anyways, I drew this piece a few weeks ago and I absolutely enjoyed it because she's one of my faves. Here's Athena: the trusted advisor.
I redrew an old OC - Athena ♥
Athena is a daughter of royalty. With the highest possible education forced into her at a very young age, she has grown into an intelligent woman — beauty and brains. However, she has never experienced anything outside the four corners of their home. She was taught all the oceans that cover the Earth but has never seen one. She was told of the mountain ranges that unfailingly protected their land but not once in her life has she actually climbed one. All these were deprived from her by her parents. She was expected to live the life her parents have laid out for her but with all the knowledge of the wonders of the Earth known to her, her heart aches, eager to live a life that's more than being just a princess.
I have always loved strong female characters. Maybe because I was weak and clumsy as a child >u< Strong female characters have always amazed me. While her friend, Midas, is physically and untoppably strong, I wanted her to contrast her a bit by giving her a meek personality. She's a kind and graceful princess but don't interpret that as a weakness; she's also unbelievably strong and, not to mention, smart and tactical. She a baddie is what I'm saying.
I made this character a few years ago but I love her so I redrew her! I love the colors I had for her: dark skin, blue eyes, brown hair and gold tips. I wanted her eyes to be as mesmerizing as the glistening ocean but I don't think I did it ;w; Maybe in the future, when I can draw better shiny eyes, I'd redraw her again.
I also kinda messed up with the skin color because I find it a little hard to shade with darker skin tones ;w; Skin is very interesting to paint because of how it interacts with light. While it's interesting, it's also very difficult because different skin tones reflect light differently. Watching makeup tutorials help understand the different skin tones, not gonna lie >u<
2022 | 2019
I said it before and I'll say it again, I love redraws!!! I love seeing my progress along the way because when the progress is slow and gradual, it's easy to dismiss it as none at all. Redraws are a great reminder of how much you've grown. And, of course, redraws allow you to bring to life old ideas with better skill and understanding :> (and hopefully less frustrations)
Extra Art! ♥
I made this back in 2019 but I never got to post it because I wanted to post the story of how she lost her arm along with it. Unfortunately, I lost my phone where I had written the story :< If I have the time and motivation I really want to redraw this piece and write the story again! ;w;
That's about it!
