Eight Arms, One Spirit
I created this digital mixed-media artwork titled Eight Arms, One Spirit. One day, while doing my daily work, a purple octopus suddenly came to mind. I love eating fish, including octopus, of course, but I also see the octopus as an intelligent and sacred creature in our world. As such, we must care for them respectfully as an important species of the ocean.
To begin, I generated the main octopus image using AI, then created the natural background. However, the figure of the octopus wasn’t complete, so I drew and reshaped it, colored it purple, and adjusted parts of the background as well. I always enjoy this creative process.
Next, I added many digital elements to the piece, such as colorful corals, a ray, a dolphin’s tail, seagulls, a water bird, waterfalls, flying tropical fish, magical aqua, waves, bubbles, butterflies, flying jellyfish, a turtle, a whale island, and Indigenous people in a boat. The octopus also wears hibiscus flowers on its head. Finally, I digitally processed the entire image.
The symbolism of the octopus is fused with the peaceful philosophy that all beings are connected as one. It also reflects an image where the wisdom of the octopus and Indigenous peoples intersect, forming a telepathic connection that takes place between the cosmos and the sea. Through this artwork, I wanted to express the peaceful spirit of our Mother Ocean, the beauty and intelligence of its creatures, and their magical power.

８本の手とひとつの心
「８本の手とひとつの心」というタイトルのデジタル・ミクストメディアアートを作りました。あるとき、作業をしていた時に、紫のタコが頭に浮かんできました。私は魚を食べるのが大好きで、もちろんタコも好きです。ただし、タコはとても知的な生物ですので、この地球上でとても大事な生き物だと思います。重要な海の生物として、大切にしていかなければならないものだと思っています。
まずは、AIを使ってメインとなるタコと背景を作成しました。ところが、タコの画像は未完成の状態で、描き変える必要がありました。そして、紫色に変えました。背景もところどころ手直しなければなりませんでした。この作業は楽しいです。
次に、カラフルな珊瑚、エイ、イルカの尻尾、カモメ、水の鳥、滝、熱帯魚、マジカルアクア、波、バブル、蝶々、空飛ぶクラゲ、かめ、鯨の島とボートに乗っている先住民などのさまざまなデジタル画像を加えました。タコはハイビスカスの花を頭につけています。最終的にデジタル加工を施しました。
このアートは、タコの象徴と、全ての存在がひとつにつながっているという平和的な思想を融合したものです。タコと先住民の叡智が交差して、テレパシー的なつながりが宇宙と海の間で行われているようなイメージで作りました。このアートを通じて、母なる海の平和的な心と、海の生物の美しさと知恵、卓越した力を表現したかったのです。
