Bulgaria is a country with huge potential for archeological explorations. I have lately visited a site where the archeological teams started to work in 2009. There are several layers the oldest ones comes from the Bronze Age and Ancient Thracians (6th-5th century BC), through Greek and Roman empire up to reigns of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527-565 AD). The excavations are still in progress, uncovering remainings of the past life.
The walk through history leads among uncovered remainings of houses, vineries, fortifications up to the partially reconstructed Orthodox church. From there you can enjoy beautiful view to the sea and beaches under the cliff.
As the excavations are still ongoing, the site will probably get bigger and more attractive with every year.
