W piątek, 26 września, w Królestwie odbędzie się kolejne spotkanie Practical Philosophy Clubu. Tym razem dyskutowany temat to "zbrodnia i kara". Spotkanie rozpocznie się o godzinie 18:30, a dyskusja będzie prowadzona w języku angielskim. Wstęp, jak zawsze, wolny.

On Friday, September 26 the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Club will again take place at the Kingdom (Biskupia St. 18/1). This time, we the topic is "Crime and Punishment". The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., and the discussion will be held in English. Admission, as always, is free.

  1. Is the death penalty ever justifiable?
  2. If your closest family member committed a serious crime (like murder or fraud), would you cover for them or turn them in? Why?
  3. Should physical punishment (flogging, caning, etc.) ever be an acceptable alternative to prison?
  4. Norway has famously humane prisons, even for violent offenders. Are these conditions too soft, or are they the most moral approach?
  5. Should victims (or victims' families) have a say in what kind of punishment offenders receive?
  6. Do wealth and social status affect how people are punished? Is punishment ever truly equal under the law?
