So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week, which is “FOR RENT”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “MODERN DAY SLAVERY”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community sharing their thoughts with us on slavery in the modern era. While many countries have made it illegal to own slaves, some individuals and institutions have found ways to keep at it, and even worse, some companies find loopholes around the law, allowing them to keep up such practices.
We got to see for many, it can be easy to slip into a form of slavery without even knowing it. It’s something that, while heartbreaking, happens way too often. And while there are many advocacies for rights today, there is still so much that needs to be done. And we can only hope that humanity would find it’s way back to how things should be. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.

Injustice and corruption are now the order of the day, dragging people into deeper forms of slavery. And at this point, we might never be able to eradicate it completely because if it could be done, it would have been done already.*

From the foods we eat to the gadgets that we use on a daily basis, most of the places they are imported from employ child labor, and many times, these are also done by human traffickers. So yeah, the cheap products we love so much might actually be coupled together by people who are in slave-master type situations.*
