Well, it seems that there is no rest for the wicked. I previously posted about a temporary pause to the Weekly Drone Contest. I very much appreciate all the folks that have continued to post to our Drone Community.
I may or may not revive the contest at this point. I'm wanting to, but this drama is just another thing holding me back. I originally started the group because I wanted an easy place to go to find all the drone posts without searching and writing scripts. I was really hoping to hear some comments from some of our regulars on if we should continue with the contest or just keep as a safe drone posting/viewing place.
I've had much other going on in my personal and business life that have required an exhausting amount of time and energy. This contest was just one of the things I had to let go.
I do not appreciate the tact that some folks took of what feels like trying to take over my group and contest without even a reach out to talk to me about it.
I clearly stated in the previous Pause post that it was a short break until I could have time to breathe and make determination on future direction.
It seems some folks got a little impatient and tried to start using the Drone Community for their own purpose without so much as even reaching out to me, and then claiming that I endorsed it.
Let me be clear. I was not contacted, and did not endorse these posts by @bucipuci or this new group that was created, although I may in the future if done reasonably.
Sorry, but there was no prior communication (or attempt), nor endorsement, just a blind false statement that I endorsed it. I did not, and have subsequently decided to mute the posts, as I feel it was deviating drastically from my intended purpose, rules and mission. I did try to watch them for a bit to see where it went, but not liking it, so it's out.
It really doesn't matter what others think here, I am the moderator of this group, created it, moderated it daily for years, and am not going to let others turn it into something else other than intended. You're free to start up your own group for your " Around the World" stuff which I feel is a cheap knockoff of the Worldmappin project, but whatever. I may even allow endorsement or help promote other groups if they bring value. Create your own, build your own as you like, but you can't just take over this one. I do like the voting idea, but not the way you attempted to take it over.
I did respond to @bucipuci around the world post with messages (limited in length). This is to provide a little more detail. @bucipuci you are still welcome to post drone pics and drone related material here per the posted rules, and I hope you do.
For you and everyone else, this drone community/group is not going to turn into a generic all pics, or general travel or photography group. There are plenty of those out there already. This group and most groups/communities are designed to better organize posts for those that don't want to see and read all the other drivel, just want to be able to find drone information, drone pics, and other FPV, RC car/boat, aerial pics as described in the rules.
It's not hard to contact me. I read and respond to posts almost daily. I am available on discord although I only check it maybe once a week or so unless I get a message popup.
