Snoop Dogg criticizes LGBTQ+ representation in children's films: 'They're putting it everywhere'

Snoop Dogg created a public stir through his statements during the It’s Giving podcast broadcast on August 20, 2025. The rapper expressed fear about watching movies because children's films now include more LGBTQ+ representation.

During the 2022 screening of Pixar's Lightyear Snoop Dogg took his grandson to the movie but became uncomfortable when his grandson asked about two women having a baby. The lesbian couple Alisha and Kiko Hawthorne from the movie depicted a storyline which surprised Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg chose not to answer his grandson's question because he felt unprepared to explain the scene which caught him off guard.

Snoop Dogg immediately received negative reactions from the public. The public condemned his homophobia while criticising his failure to teach his grandson about diverse family structures.

A various people believed that LGBTQ+ representation in media helps create a normalizing environment for diversity leading to early acceptance of different lifestyles.

The controversy sparked demands for Snoop Dogg to be replaced as the main performer at the upcoming Australian Football League Grand Final. His past statements which some view as homophobic or transphobic, have raised a lot questions about his position as a mainstream entertainer.
