Lately, with the limited time I've had to play due to my internships, I've started to develop a taste for AFK-style video games, the kind of games where progress and farming continue while you're offline, and all you have to do is log in for a few moments to collect resources, do some missions, and then leave the game for a long time to gather resources again. I recently got a game of this style that also has one of the elements that makes me most nostalgic about my beginnings as a gamer in my childhood: the Stickman characters, those stick figures that were so popular in web games almost two decades ago.
Epic Stickman is a fairly simple auto-action title, where we get all the memorable, unbridled action of Stickman and where, in a way, the whole adventure can be considered as the epic combat cinematics of these characters. Our little character is in the middle of the screen and will be hitting and defeating endless Stickman enemies as we advance through the levels, although there is no significant visual change. The main focus of the adventure will be to invest the gold obtained by defeating enemies to improve our character's stats such as damage, health, life regeneration, attack speed, critical damage probability, and critical damage. As we progress through the “campaign,” we unlock other features of our Stickman. We also have items to equip him with and improve his combat ability, such as pieces of armor and weapons, although there is something peculiar in that we can only equip him with one weapon and one piece of armor at a time. Similarly, he has skills that recharge over time and that the character uses automatically. At first, we can only equip him with one skill, but as we progress, more slots are unlocked to equip more skills at the same time.

We also have pets that help us in combat, and as we advance, we can equip several pets at the same time. An interesting feature is that we also have different upgrades, similar to a skill tree that we improve or research over time. Similarly, there are a couple of different game modes where we have some dungeons, although with quite limited attempts unless you want to watch ads for that, and the ads are actually quite long. There is also a mini-game where you search for chests on a board, and over time, you get items to tap on the board. For an AFK title, Epic Stickman is interesting and somewhat entertaining if you are nostalgic for this type of character.

Últimamente con el tiempo tan limitado que he tenido para jugar debido a mis pasantías, he comenzado a adquirir el gusto por los videojuegos estilo AFK, ese tipo de juegos en donde el progreso y farmeo sigue mientras estas desconectado y basta solamente con ingresar unos momentos a recoger los recursos, hacer algunas misiones y luego poder dejar el juego durante un largo tiempo para volver a reunir recursos. Hace poco conseguí un titulo de este estilo y que a su vez tiene uno de los enfoques que mas nostalgia me da sobre mis inicios como Gamer en mi infancia como lo es los personajes Skickman, esos muñecos de palitos que tan popular fueron en los videojuegos Web hace casi 2 décadas.
Epic Stickman es un título de acción automática bastante sencillo, en donde tendremos toda la acción desenfrenada tan memorable de los Stickman y en donde de cierto modo toda la aventura se puede considerar como las cinemáticas épicas de combate de estos personajes, nuestro pequeño personaje esta en el medio de la pantalla y estará golpeando y venciendo a los enemigos Stickman sin fin mientras vamos avanzando de niveles aunque no hay cambio visual significativo, simplemente veremos como termina con el ultimo enemigo con una acción en cámara lenta y de una vez comienzan a llegar los nuevos enemigos.
Algo curioso de este juego es que a pesar que su historia es prácticamente nula, si tiene una ligera introducción estilo comic en donde muestra que el mundo fue atacado por las fuerzas del mal y los gobiernos de los Stickman deciden unirse para hacerle frente al mal y nuestro personaje parece estar destinado a combatir sin fin en medio de la pantalla de nuestro móvil. A pesar de ser un videojuego AFK y bastante sencillo, tiene mas modos de juego de los que se puede esperar y varias mejoras para nuestro personaje que vamos consiguiendo a medida que reunimos recursos o que nuestro personaje consigue de forma automática sin estar conectados.

En enfoque principal de la aventura será invertir el oro conseguido al derrotar enemigos para mejorar las estadísticas de nuestro personaje como lo son el daño, salud, regeneración de vida, velocidad de ataque, probabilidad de daño crítico y daño crítico, a medida que vamos avanzando en la “campaña” vamos desbloqueando otras características de nuestro Stickman. También contamos con objetos para equiparle y mejorar su capacidad de combate como lo serán piezas de armadura y armas, aunque hay algo peculiar y es que solo le podemos equipar un arma y una pieza de armadura por vez, del mismo modo cuenta con habilidades que se recargan con el tiempo y que de igual forma el personaje usa de forma automática, en un principio solo le podemos equipar una habilidad pero a medida que progresamos se desbloquean mas casillas para equipar mas habilidades el mismo tiempo.

También contamos con mascotas que nos ayudan en el combate y a medida que avanzamos podemos equipar varias mascotas al mismo tiempo, algo interesante es que también contamos con diferentes mejoras algo parecidas a un árbol de habilidades que vamos mejorando o investigando con el tiempo, del mismo modo hay un par de modos de juego diferente en donde tenemos algunas mazmorras aunque con intentos bastante limitados a no ser que desees ver anuncios para eso y en verdad los anuncios son bastante extensos, también hay un minijuego de buscar cofres en un tablero en donde con el tiempo vamos consiguiendo objetos para poder picar en el tablero. Para ser un título AFK, Epic Stickman resulta interesante y algo entretenido si tiene la nostalgia de este tipo de personajes.
