I had some fun with this project. I needed a mobile surface for cooking outdoors using my rocket stove. I decided to make it with the wood from some old pallets that were sitting in the warehouse.
Step one was to draw up the plans
Step two was to cut and pry these things apart! That was the hardest part!
I built a box out of an old concrete form panel and then clad it with boards from the pallets
As you can see in the photos I left a gap between the boards and painted the grooves black which makes a nice contrast with the lighter color of the wood. I then added some wheels that I've had kicking around for a few years.
Here's the front of the finished product. I love the different wood tones in the boards that I recycled!
Here you can see the storage space where I'll keep the Rocket Stove and the twigs that I use for fuel
The portable cooking table in action!
The culmination of a fun project was cooking a meal while watching the sunset!
That was a lot of fun and it didn't cost me anything!
What About You?
- Have you ever built something out of old pallets?
- Have you used any other recycled material to make something?
- Do you enjoy cooking outdoors?
Until next time,
