Some of you might know Jerome (@choiko82), a good friend of mine, my vice president of KL Sketchnation from some of my previous sketch outing posts. He has been my sketching buddy for more than a year since last we met in a sketching event in 2017. I even shared some sketching outing with him few times here. Check out this post;

“KUALA LUMPUR is ART” exhibition shows a collection of watercolour paintings Jerome Liew made in his ‘playground’; the streets in Kuala Lumpur city through sketch outings with urban sketching communities, capturing landscapes of Kuala Lumpur from his perspective that reflects architecture, culture, people as well as foods of the city. Explore the vibrant experience projected onto watercolour masterpieces in his 2 weeks solo exhibition debut!
A journey of a Sarawakian comic artist exploring meanings in his artworks through the veins of the vibrant city, sketching bricks, tiles and builds of the Kuala Lumpur streets and settings. Actively involved in the art scene in Kuala Lumpur, Jerome Liew barely be seen passing by a day without a sketch. He can be seen in most sketching events organized by the local sketching groups namely KL Sketch Nation, Doodle Malaysia, KL Urbansketchers, Sketchwalk KL and some others.
Translating his experiences of the city flowing through his brush strokes onto papers, Jerome Liew embraced urban sketching through communal activities. He learned watercolour painting through his encounter with the other urban sketching enthusiasts in the city bits by bits from zero to hero. Jerome Liew is now well known as the watercolour ‘sifu’ to many through his comprehensive watercolour painting and coffee painting workshops.
Last weekends we had an internal KL Sketchnation members watercolour workshop by Jerome to introduce his technique of using watercolour for urban sketching.
It was small class of 11 participants where we were guided to do a watercolour sketching of Sultan Abdul Samad building.
