A few days ago, in our 2022 Update, we hinted that we would soon take a big step and the long-awaited day has arrived. After more than four years of activity in the blockchain, being in Hive since its origin, after offering a broad and democratic curation system for the Spanish-speaking community, being a school for curators, serving as a gateway to Hive, accompanying and guiding a large number of users, we have decided to take another step, one that brings great expectations and enormous challenges:

@La-Colmena becomes a witness on Hive

What does this mean?

It means that in addition to the work we already mentioned in our 2022 Update, related to authors on Hive, curators, communities and new users. We are now also adding to the technological work, making available a new equipment for the production of the blocks that are the essence of the Hive blockchain.

Why?

The growth of the Spanish-speaking community has been substantial in Hive and particularly the Venezuelan presence has had a surprising growth, which clearly indicates the need to give representation to this community in new areas, assuming new commitments and challenges, in line with the growing responsibility that is presented to us as a Venezuelan community.

The fact that @la-colmena becomes the first Venezuelan witness (although, it should be noted, that in this field nationalities do not prevail), is only the beginning of a new stage that will come to endorse the importance of the Spanish-speaking community with Hive, called to assume new commitments and new tasks.

What node will be used?

The equipment contracted for the node is an

Virtual Private Server (VPS), contracted with Privex.io

with the following features:

- 16Gb RAM - 500GB SSD - 4 cores - 100mbps EUM (Unmetered Bandwidth Plans) - IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

Who are at the helm of the new witness?

@Ylich has been since August 2018 at the helm of @La-Colmena, as a pillar supporting an activity that has not stopped since that time. He has managed to turn La Colmena into an important reference within the platform, therefore he will also be at the helm in this new facet, but this time accompanied by two outstanding users who have managed to earn the respect and admiration of the general community, both for their community work, as well as for the creation of content. They are @eugelys and @equipodelta, who have been part of the team, recently reactivated, advancing new projects and activities that are beginning to be carried out.

What will this decision result in?

In addition to expanding Hive's technological base, we have the clear objective of moving up in the ranking of witnesses to:

1. Deepening decentralization. The more witnesses there are, the more diversified the real power becomes and the closer the users are to exercising it directly.
   
   

2. To produce an abundant amount of blocks that will allow us to significantly increase the HP of @la-colmena and to be able to provide a much more consistent vote to our authors. As well as being able to allocate part of that income to support different communities and the allied hives (such as Music, Literatos and Venezuela), to generate rewards to the staff (curators, moderators, etc.) who have been active for so long, with the sole purpose of contributing to the enhancement of the platform and as a way to support other users.
   
   

3. Currently the direct beneficiaries of @la-colmena's work are Spanish speakers, since the project was born at a time when this community was still very weak and unorganized. But just as the majority of witnesses and whales offered their support at the time, it is our intention to also support initiatives of other language communities and become a witness that supports projects of the entire community in Hive.
   
   

4. With such a large presence of Spanish speakers, we believe it is necessary to increase the presence of witnesses representing these communities and we also aspire to be part of the governance, as well as to help other witnesses representing this large population active in Hive and willing to contribute to the growth and development of it, to achieve better positions in the ranking.
   
   

5. In our first stage we will focus our efforts on the recruitment and training of new users, on our pedagogical work in the field of curation, which for us is the best way to teach how to produce quality content, as well as on the establishment and strengthening of thematic communities. But we are also going to start investing immediately in the support and development of decentralized applications that contribute to the strengthening of Web 3.0, in the figure of Hive.

As our name, La Colmena, is the Spanish version of the word Hive, we want to continue to convey a positive image and a true reflection of our platform.

Rebranding of @la-colmena

To this big step we take today we add the refreshing of our image, a task we left in charge of @jossduarte who has done the rebranding of our logo, originally created by @zaxan in our beginnings.

Now the logo has more vibrant colors that we want to convey the positive focus with which we move towards the new flight. We take this opportunity to thank you for the trust and support you have given us over the years, it is our most fervent wish to count on your presence in this journey that is just beginning.

Hace algunos días, en nuestra Actualización de 2022, dejamos entrever que pronto daríamos un gran paso y el tan ansiado día ha llegado. Después de más de cuatro años de actividad en la blockchain, estando en Hive desde su origen, luego de ofrecer un sistema amplio y democrático de curación para la comunidad hispanohablante, siendo una escuela para curadores, sirviendo de puerta de entrada a Hive, acompañando y guiando a un gran número de usuarios, hemos decidido dar un paso más, uno que trae consigo grandes expectativas y enormes retos:

¿Qué quiere decir esto?

Quiere decir que además de las labores que ya mencionamos en nuestra Actualización de 2022, relacionadas a los autores en Hive, curadores, comunidades y nuevos usuarios. Ahora también nos sumamos a la labor tecnológica, poniendo a disposición un nuevo equipo para la producción de los bloques que constituyen la esencia de la cadena de bloques Hive.

¿Por qué?

El crecimiento de la comunidad hispanohablante ha sido sustancial en Hive y particularmente la presencia venezolana ha tenido un crecimiento sorprendente, lo cual indica claramente la necesidad de darle una representación a esta comunidad en nuevas áreas, asumiendo nuevos compromisos y retos, acordes a la creciente responsabilidad que se nos presenta como comunidad venezolana.

El hecho de que @la-colmena se convierta en el primer testigo venezolano (aunque, cabe destacar, que en este terreno no prevalecen las nacionalidades), es solo el comienzo de una nueva etapa que vendrá a refrendar la importancia de la comunidad hispanohablante con Hive, llamada a asumir nuevos compromisos y nuevas tareas.

¿Quiénes están al frente del nuevo testigo?

@Ylich ha estado desde agosto de 2018 al frente de @La-Colmena, como un pilar que sustenta una actividad que no ha parado desde aquel entonces. Ha logrado convertir a La Colmena en una importante referencia dentro de la plataforma, por tanto él también estará al frente en esta nueva faceta, pero esta vez acompañado de dos destacadas usuarias que han sabido ganarse el respeto y la admiración de la comunidad general, tanto por su labor comunitaria, como por la creación de contenido. Ellas son @eugelys y @equipodelta, quienes han formado parte del equipo, reactivado recientemente, adelantando proyectos y actividades nuevas que se están empezando a realizar.

¿En qué se traducirá esta decisión?

Además de amplir la base tecnológica de Hive, tenemos el claro objetivo de ascender en el ranking de testigos para:

1. Profundizar la descentralización. A mayor número de testigos, el poder real se va diversificando y los usuarios están más cerca de ejercerlo de manera directa.
   
   

2. Producir una cantidad abundante de bloques que nos permitan aumentar significativamente el HP de @la-colmena y poder brindar un voto mucho más consistente a nuestros autores. Así como poder destinar parte de ese ingreso al apoyo a distintas comunidades y los panales aliados (tales como Music, Literatos y Venezuela), a generar recompensas al personal (curadores, moderadores, etc.) que durante tanto tiempo se ha mantenido activo, con el único fin de contribuir al engrandecimiento de la plataforma y como una forma de apoyar a los demás usuarios.
   
   

3. Actualmente los beneficiarios directos de las labores de @la-colmena, son los hispanohablantes, ya que el proyecto nació en un momento en que esta comunidad era aún muy débil y poco organizada. Pero así como la mayoría de testigos y ballenas ofrecieron su apoyo en su momento, es nuestra intención poder apoyar también iniciativas de comunidades de otras lenguas y convertirnos en un testigo que apoye proyectos de toda la comunidad en Hive.
   
   

4. Con una presencia tan grande de hispanohablantes, creemos necesario aumentar la presencia de los testigos que representen a estas comunidades y aspiramos también a conformar parte de la gobernanza, así como ayudar a otros testigos que representen a esta extensa población activa en Hive y que estén dispuestos a contribuir con el crecimiento y desarrollo de la misma, a lograr mejores posiciones en el ranking.
   
   

5. En nuestra primera etapa centraremos los esfuerzos en la captación y capacitación de nuevos usuarios, en nuestra labor pedagógica en el campo de la curación, que para nosotros es la mejor forma de enseñar a producir contenido de calidad, así como al establecimiento y fortalecimientos de las comunidades temáticas. Pero también vamos empezar a invertir de inmediato en el apoyo y desarrollo de aplicaciones descentralizadas que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de la web 3.0, en la figura de Hive.
   
   

Al ser nuestro nombre, La Colmena, la versión en español de la palabra Hive, queremos seguir transmitiendo una imagen positiva y reflejo fiel de nuestra plataforma.

A este gran paso que damos hoy le sumamos el refrescamiento de nuestra imagen, tarea que dejamos a cargo de @jossduarte quien ha realizado el rebrading de nuestro logotipo, creado originalmente por @zaxan en nuestros inicios.

Ahora el logotipo posee colores más vibrantes que deseamos transmitan el enfoque positivo con el cual nos movemos hacia el nuevo vuelo. Aprovechamos para agradecerles por la confianza y apoyo que nos han brindado a lo largo de los años, es nuestro más ferviente deseo contar con su presencia en este viaje que apenas comienza.
