Observa Piensa Escribe: Pepito Grillo

Seeing this image reminds me of a time when, while cleaning my yard to sweep up some dry and green leaves, I had the chance to meet the little friend shown in the photo in a very funny and unexpected way. While sweeping, I saw the leaves being pushed by the broom and some by the wind, but one in particular made a strange movement. > Ver esta imagen me recuerda una ocasión en la que limpiando el patio de mi casa, para barrer algunas hojas secas y otras verdes, tuve la oportunidad de conocer al amiguito que muestran en la foto de manera muy graciosa e inesperada. Muientras barría veía cómo las hojas eran empujadas por la escoba y algunas por el viento, pero una en especial hacía un movimiento extraño.  One of those leaves was jumping in an unusual way. I've never seen a leaf jump before, but this time, it wasn't doing what a leaf normally does when it's dragged or swept from one place to another. I continued doing my job anyway, didn't pay much attention, and returned to another part of the yard to continue sweeping and collecting leaves. > Una de esas hojas brincaba de manera inusual. Nunca he visto una hoja brindanco 😅 pero en esta ocasión, una hoja no hacía lo que una hoja debería hacer normalmente cuando es arrastrada o barrida de un lugar a otro. Igual seguí haciendo mi oficio, no le presté tanta atención y volví a otro lugar del patio para continuar barriendo y acumulando hojas.  As I return to the main pile to begin collecting the leaves and putting them in the trash, I notice that only one leaf keeps jumping out and moving away from the pile. Determined to keep my outdoor space clean, I insisted on gathering them with the others, but that specific leaf just kept moving away until one day I couldn't see it anymore. > Al volver al cúmulo principal para empezar a recoger las hojas y meterlas en el basurero, noto que sigue saltando una hoja solamente y se aparta del montón. Yo empeñada en mantener mi lugar de afuera limpio, insistía en juntarlas con las demás, pero esa hoja específica sólo se apartaba una y otra vez hasta que en una de esas no la vi más.  While picking up the trash, I noticed the garbage was overflowing, so I needed another trash bag for the leaves. I called my daughter to get me one and help me finish cleaning when she approached me with the bag in her hand and said, "Mom, there's a leaf on your shoulder." I turned to look at her and yelled in fright because it was indeed that same leaf-shaped insect stuck to my shirt. > Mientras recogía la basura, noté que la basura estaba hasta el tope por lo que necesitaría otra bolsa de basura para las hojas. Llamo a mi hija para que me traiga una y me ayude a terminar de limpiar cuando se me acerca con la bolsa en la mano y me dice "mamá tienes una hoja en el hombro", yo volteo a verla y meto un grito del susto porque efectivamente era ese mismo insecto en forma de hoja pegado a mi camisa.
