Light Painting, RGB-Man 2015

Hi Ho Hive Creators, I hope everyone is enjoying themselves and making the most of whatever life throws at you.

Creating posts from images I took in 2015, from my Flickr account. I would have thought the memories of the visits and all the good times and top nights out with my light painting buddy Matt would have made it easier to write-up a collection of images. I am finding it a bit of a challenge to select images that would represent those techniques we were using or locations that we were visiting but am still enjoying the process. Small Orange Divider.png The above image was shot with my 2nd DSLT, which was a Sony A65v. I used this camera up until about 2018 when I then purchased a Sony A7ii. The bridge is built over the River Avon and is on a golf course, which is a perfectly quiet spot to Light Paint. Using basic home-made LED tools we tried to change the textures in the RGB-Man shots by waving the lights in different patterns and in this one tried very jagged lines to try and make it look like electricity.

It was a slow process trying to learn how to paint around and create different poses, I got it wrong so many times with the lights before and after the silhouette overlapping too much or in totally the wrong place. I found that everything was calm in the planning of each shot but as soon as I pressed the shutter the excitement of the moment made me a little stressed and out of the calm zone that would have made me able to concentrate better.

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
