Digitalization has contributed to cities becoming a bit more isolated. This was accelerated by the pandemic. However, I find it impossible to believe that the streets are empty just because we're glued to a screen all day.
It's true that everyone is in their own world; even when we're with someone in person, we often check our phones. Humans are strange and contradictory.
But these photos were taken in fairly busy areas, and while many factors play a role in why they aren't what they used to be, people do go out and interact.
I find it strange to have to reaffirm this as if it were an act of resistance.
I don't know what the coming years will hold.
La digitalización ha contribuido a que las ciudades se vuelvan un poco más aisladas. Esto se aceleró con la pandemia. Sin embargo, me resulta imposible creer que las calles estén vacías solo por el hecho de que estemos pegados a una pantalla todo el día.
Es cierto que cada uno está en lo suyo; incluso cuando estamos en persona con alguien, solemos revisar nuestros teléfonos. Los seres humanos somos extraños y contradictorios.
Pero estas fotos fueron tomadas en zonas bastante concurridas y, aunque hay muchos factores que influyen en que ya no sean como antes, la gente sale e interactúa.
Me parece extraño tener que reafirmar esto como si se tratara de un acto de resistencia.
No sé lo que depararán los próximos años.
