# Como ustedes que me siguen en mi domingo musical saben, porque lo he comentado, que me gusta el rock, lo disfruto plenamente, así como puedo disfrutar otros géneros que les he presentado domingo a domingo. # Hoy les traigo algo fuera de lo común, pues les traigo rock, pero lo fuera de lo común es que es un rock, pudiera decir que pesado o alternativo, pero es rock cristiano. Pues sí, así como lo estás leyendo: es rock cristiano. Y por supuesto te preguntarás: qué raro eso, rock en música cristiana. Debo aclarar que no soy ni pertenezco a esa religión. # Hoy quiero hablarles de una canción que no solo sacude los sentidos, sino que también despierta el alma: “The Resistance” de Skillet. Es una banda que, aunque muchos la etiquetan como rock cristiano, yo pienso que va mucho más allá. Su música y su letra son una mezcla poderosa de fe, fuerza y fuego interior. Esta canción, en particular, es un grito de batalla contra la resignación, una invitación a resistir cuando todo parece empujarnos a rendirnos. # De hecho, hasta parece más una canción de protesta citaré: >Soy una nación, soy un millón de rostros Formado juntos, >hecho para elevación Soy un soldado, no me rendiré La fe es como un fuego que nunca arde en brasas # Allí definitivamente hay protesta y fe, dos cosas que se pueden identificar con muchas otras cosas. Pero viniendo de un grupo de rock cristiano, pues llega a los corazones de los jóvenes que, por más que sean de esa religión, simplemente al igual que a mí, les gusta el rock. Sin embargo, por alguna razón de la misma religión se ven reprimidos. Este grupo les dio una luz en ese gusto musical que muchas veces es catalogado de otra forma, y no precisamente con la religión, sino con la anti-religión. Saben a lo que me refiero. # Skillet no es solo guitarras y baterías, aunque la chama que se llama Jen Ledger, la baterista, es una bestia en lo suyo. Toca demasiado bien, a mí me gusta mucho. Este grupo también es un mensaje, y claro que también es un propósito. Otra parte de la letra dice: “Así es como nos levantamos, más fuerte que un tren de carga”. Yo pensé en cómo nos podemos identificar, en qué somos: gente que se levanta, que no se rinde, que encuentra en la música un refugio y una chispa. # Así que mi domingo musical no es solo para los que aman el rock. And of course, you might ask yourself, “Isn’t that strange? Rock in Christian music?” I should clarify that I’m not part of that religion, nor do I belong to it. # Today I want to talk to you about a song that not only shakes the senses but also awakens the soul: *“The Resistance”* by Skillet. It’s a band that, although many label it as Christian rock, I believe goes far beyond that. Their music and lyrics are a powerful blend of faith, strength, and inner fire. This song, in particular, is a battle cry against resignation—a call to resist when everything seems to push us toward giving up. # In fact, it even seems more like a protest song. I will quote: > I am a nation, > I am a million faces formed together, > made for elevation > I am a soldier, > I won’t surrender > Faith is like a fire that never burns to embers # There’s definitely protest and faith in there—two things that can be identified with many other causes. But coming from a Christian rock band, it reaches the hearts of young people who, even if they belong to that religion, just like me, love rock music. Yet for some reason, within that same religion, they feel repressed. This band gave them a light in that musical taste that’s often labeled in a different way—not necessarily with religion, but with anti-religion. You know what I mean. # Skillet isn’t just guitars and drums—although the girl named Jen Ledger, the drummer, is a beast at what she does. She plays incredibly well, and I really like her. This band is also a message, and of course, it’s a purpose. Another part of the lyrics says: *“This is how we rise up, heavier than a hurricane, stronger than a freight train.”* I thought about how we can identify ourselves in that—who we are: people who rise up, who don’t give up, who find in music a refuge and a spark. # So my Sunday musical isn’t just for those who love rock. It’s for those who’ve ever felt alone in their struggle.
