Crochet placemat using rag yarn (ENG/ESP)

This day couldn't go by without sharing what I was doing last night and part of today. I knitted a flower-shaped placemat with rag yarn to decorate centerpieces. I don't have a nice table to show it off right now, but I'm working on those plans and am already making my placemats, which keep me very excited and motivated to knit beautiful things to show off at home. Actually, when I started this knitting, I had another idea: making some pot holders for the kitchen. I thought the material's thick texture would be a great option, and it was. I'm just changing my mind for now, and I decided to leave it to decorate other spaces, like tables in the living room or in the garden. The vibrant color creates a beautiful atmosphere in every space. I hope you like some of my work today. For a while now I've been using trapillo yarn that I made myself, with some strips of flexible colored fabric that I had left over from other projects, and since I love knitting, I've really enjoyed it. I've already made baskets, purses, and slippers with this material to share with you, so yesterday I felt like knitting something new for the house. > Llevo un tiempo usando trapillo que hice yo misma, con algunas tiras de tela flexible de colores que me sobraron de otros proyectos, y como me encanta tejer, lo he disfrutado muchísimo. Ya he hecho cestas, bolsos y pantuflas con este material para compartir con ustedes, así que ayer me motive a tejer algo nuevo para casa.

And since this fabric is circular, I started with a ring in the center and increased it with single crochet stitches, making several rows to achieve the desired size. Above all, I wanted to make enough material until I needed more of these yarns to continue using the fabrics we recycled for new, useful projects. After my tablecloth was large enough for my purpose, I decided to make some chains to decorate the edges of this circle, so I crocheted chains of 10 stitches each and began embellishing the entire edge of this tablecloth. > Y como este tejido es con forma circular comence, con un anillo en el centro y fui aumentando con puntos bajos, haciendo varias vueltas para lograr el tamaño deseado, y sobre todo que este material me fuera suficiente, hasta que ocupe un nuevo tiempo para sacar más hilo de estos para seguir aprovechando las telas que reciclamos para nuevos proyectos útiles. > Después de que mi mantel tenía un tamaño suficiente para mi propósito, idee, hacer unas cadenas para decorar las orillas de este círculo, así que tejí unas cadenas de 10 puntos cada uno y fui embelleciendo todo el contorno de este mantel.

I loved it, and for a simple fabric, the look it ended up with was surprising. Then I made another chain of 15 stitches, placing them below the previous red ones, but interspersed, centered between each 2 decorative chains of the upper red ones. This design is like a flower with its lower leaves. > Me encanto, y para ser un tejido sencillo, el aspecto con el que iba quedando es sorprendente, luego realice otras cadenas de 15 puntos, las mismas las coloque por debajo de las anteriores, de color rojo, pero intercaladas centradas entre cada 2 cadenas decorativas de las rojas superiores, este diseño es como una flor con sus hojas inferiores.

Finally, I was inspired by a distinctive flower called the poppy, which is red with a black center. This flower combination strikes me as beautiful and exotic due to its intense color, making it such an elegant combination. And since this tablecloth is designed to hold a vase or planter in its center, I decided to weave some chains with black rag yarn around the inner edge of the tablecloth to make the color combination visible, so that all its colors can be seen when an object is placed on it. > Finalmente, me inspiré en una flor distintiva llamada amapola, roja con el centro negro. Esta combinación de flores me parece hermosa y exótica debido a su intenso color, lo que la convierte en una combinación muy elegante. > Y como este mantel está diseñado para colocar un jarrón o maceta en su centro, decidí tejer unas cadenas con hilo de trapo negro alrededor del borde interior del mantel para que la combinación de colores sea visible y se puedan apreciar todos sus colores al colocar un objeto sobre él.

Now that my tablecloth is finished, you can see how it takes on a curl-like shape in the chains on its edges, which make this tablecloth an exotic crochet rag tablecloth.
