Peace Day commemorative bracelet design (ENG/ESP)

A cordial greeting to all, I hope that peace be with you all, today, tomorrow and always. I am very happy to stop by this beloved DIYHub community to share my second initiative for Peace Day. This time I made a white thread bracelet with a Franciscan knot and white acrylic pearls. It is decorated in the center with a platinum steel plate and the peace symbol. It is a circle with a 3-pointed figure inside, representing the letters N and D, meaning Nuclear Disarmament in the alphabet used by sailors to communicate on the high seas. But not only that, the symbol also has another meaning: it represents a desperate person, with arms outstretched and palms open, like a man in front of a firing squad. It truly is a symbol of great significance worthy of honor. Honestly, friends, I didn't know for sure the historical significance of this symbol of peace. Now it all makes sense. I understand why it has that mysterious shape, which for many may pass as just a symbol of peace, without knowing why its designer, Gerald Holtom, made it with such simplicity, but which carries great meaning for the world. From now on, wearing this bracelet will be much more important to me, as it is loaded with emotion and a clearer understanding of why we celebrate the Day of Peace. Es un círculo con una figura de 3 puntas en su interior, que representa las letras N y D, que significan Desarme Nuclear en el alfabeto utilizado por los marineros para comunicarse en alta mar. Pero no solo eso, el símbolo también tiene otro significado: representa a una persona desesperada, con los brazos extendidos y las palmas abiertas, como un hombre frente a un pelotón de fusilamiento. Realmente es un símbolo de gran significado digno de honor. Honestamente, amigos, no sabía a ciencia cierta el significado histórico de este símbolo de paz. Ahora todo tiene sentido. Entiendo por qué tiene esa forma misteriosa, que para muchos podría parecer un simple símbolo de paz, sin saber por qué su diseñador, Gerald Holtom, la creó con tanta sencillez, pero que tiene un gran significado para el mundo. > De ahora en adelante, llevar esta pulsera será mucho más importante para mí, ya que está cargada de emoción y me permite comprender mejor por qué celebramos el Día de la Paz. The first step in making the bracelet was to use the white thread and, using a ruler, measure two strands of 60 cm each, plus another 30 cm thread for the closing slip knot. After laying out the steel plate with two holes at the ends, place the 60 cm threads folded in half, 30 cm apart, on each side. Next, thread the threads through the holes in the plate and knot them to create a cord of threads, with 4 threads on each side. From these threads, begin weaving the bracelet design with the beads and knots. > El primer paso para hacer la pulsera fue usar el hilo blanco y, con una regla, medí dos hebras de 60 cm cada una, más otro hilo de 30 cm para el nudo corredizo de cierre. > Después de colocar la placa de acero con dos agujeros en los extremos, coloque los hilos de 60 cm doblados por la mitad, separados 30 cm, a cada lado. > Enseguida pase los hilos por los orificios de la placa, anude para un resultado de un cordón de hilos, de 4 hilos por cada lado, desde estos hilos, comenzando a tejer el diseño de la pulsera con las perlas y nudos.

To make the first Franciscan knot, I placed the plastic tube over the bracelet threads, wrapped it twice, and threaded the threads through the top of the plastic tube. Then, I removed the tube and began shaping the knot. I then tied the remaining knots in the same way. I then alternated two pearls, followed by one knot, until the length of my wrist. > Para hacer el primer nudo franciscano, coloqué el tubo de plástico sobre los hilos de la pulsera, le di dos vueltas y pasé los hilos por la parte superior interna del tubo. The next step was to cross the threads on both sides of the bracelet to make the safety knot to close the bracelet. I did this by passing a 30 cm thread folded in half under the crossed threads and over them, making a Franciscan knot to close the bracelet. Then, I cut off the excess thread from the knot, thus creating the slip knot to close the bracelet. I really liked trying to make my bracelet with this thread because of its softness and comfort. > El siguiente paso fue cruzar los hilos a ambos lados de la pulsera para hacer el nudo de seguridad y cerrarla. Lo hice pasando un hilo de 30 cm doblado por la mitad por debajo de los hilos cruzados y por encima, formando un nudo franciscano. Luego, corté el hilo sobrante del nudo, creando así el nudo corredizo. Me gustó mucho intentar hacer mi pulsera con este hilo por su suavidad y comodidad.

At this point, take the ends of the bracelet thread tips and cut to make sure they are all the same size. It is a very pretty copper ring that my daughter gave me and that I appreciate very much. > En este paso se puede apreciar con más detalle el diseño de la pulsera con los nudos y las perlas. Aquí se aprecia una figura similar a la de los lazos de perlas. Para terminar el diseño, es hora de añadir el símbolo de la paz.
